fucking iditots! I just e-mailed GAME; Quote >Sir/Madam, >> >> I am disgusted by your knee jerk reactionary action of refusing to stock >> MANHUNT the video game. >> >> I am 32 years old, and have played video games for over 25 years, >> controversy around video games is nothing new, and I am suprised >> that you have taken this action. >> >> Therefore I will no longer shop in GAME. I am boycotting your stores >> from now on, unless you change your policy, this is the thin end of the >> wedge, >> for instance, I am not confident that if were to pre-order the next >> Grand Theft Auto game from one of your stores that I would actually >> recieve it. >> >> regards >> Mark Brown > Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Sureshot on July 29, 2004, 09:53:27 AM Personally, I didn't like the game anyway, but I agree that it's a completely ridiculous move, and his parents have only themselves to blame for allowing their underage son to play the game.
It totally annoys me how in such cases, the parents have to find some kind of scapegoat for their inadequacy. Hope they enjoy their few quid from the story. Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: thx1138 on July 29, 2004, 10:05:41 AM again, the Dead Kennedy's can be quote here......
Quote We came home and found our son lying dead on his bed from a gunshot wound, he had his headphones on, and there was an Ozyy record on the turntable, and so we called our lawyer........ Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Izret101 on July 29, 2004, 11:08:27 AM i wrote an article on if vg violence really makes kids violent. Basically it doesnt and Shureshot is right the parents try to pass the buck.
I dont know about over there but i know here some stores dont sell you a mature game uless you have id tp prove your old enough. Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Sauza12 on July 29, 2004, 12:52:35 PM Quote She said teenagers, who lack the psychological maturity of adults, play the games, even though they are aimed at over-18s. This says it all......straight from the article! Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: den68 on July 29, 2004, 01:50:58 PM Quote We came home and found our son lying dead on his bed from a gunshot wound, he had his headphones on, and there was an Ozyy record on the turntable, and so we called our lawyer........ from the album "Bedtime for Democracy" I believe. that album came out during the height of the whole Tipper Gore PMRC thing didn't it? Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: thx1138 on July 29, 2004, 02:24:35 PM I think so, the name does ring a bell, but I am not sure at all.
I think around a similar time, Judas Priest found themselves accused of hiding "subliminal messages" in their music..... the do-gooders did not win, Anyone seen "Rock Bitch" live vidoes? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH Rock Bitch must have inspired Love Fist on GTA VC! Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Izret101 on July 29, 2004, 02:46:49 PM Anybody heard of the game Death Race? It was made by Exidy i think in 78. Ill try and find a screen shot from it to show you what would have caused a response similair to this 26 years ago.
Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Izret101 on July 29, 2004, 02:51:24 PM Due to its extreme violence and the screeching sound people made when run over this game was condemned. It was also the first controversial video game to my knowledge.
Without further ado the destruction of our youth in the 70's.(besides drugs) Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: shadytool on July 29, 2004, 03:24:43 PM it is called death race 2000, like the movie... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/

Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: Mike Leon on July 29, 2004, 10:20:39 PM I don't think the IMDB is accurate. I've never seen a version of Death Race the video game that was actually called Death Race 2000 and I'm almost positive Exidy didn't actually have the rights to the movie. It has, in fact, often been disputed that Death Race is not based on the movie Death Race 2000 and that the similarities are only coincidental (bullshit). I've also seen the IMDB mess up information about other video games and, in some cases, list games that don't actually exist.

Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: shadytool on July 30, 2004, 01:27:53 PM why dont you two read that klov thing again. it was also known as 2000 and there was some conflict in if it was inspired by or made after the movie.
Title: Re: Manhunt -withdrawn from sale Post by: 2D-Forever on July 30, 2004, 02:23:40 PM Parents need to control their children. Don't let them play the damned game if they are psychos. For the rest of us, stop treating people like retards or be prepared to rob everyone of they right to choice and responsiblity in all matters.
