Title: Nokia N-Gage no more!
Post by: Cobra on September 22, 2006, 03:41:00 AM
Thank god, I'm no longer rated an N-Gage!
I couldn't agree more on newbie's being rated it though, as even when I 1st saw it I though, impressive, PS/Sat graphics on something so small, but it's the hand-held equivalent of a Atari Jaguar control.

Thing didn't know if it wanted to be a hand held system or a phone, and managed to fail at both.
Anyways, yay for me cause this means over 50 posts as of tonight. ;D

the reason it was a piece of crap

it was neither a good phone nor a good game machine.

companies need to get away from the idea that you can have an all-in-one device that is great at any particular task.  it never worked in the 80's with personal computer/game machine, it doesnt work now (phone/game machine, mp3 player/phone, game machine/movie player, etc etc etc)

God that is so true.

When I bought my cell phone the salesmen was going on and on about the camera, camcorder, MP3 player blah blah blah. I asked if it made good phone calls he said yes and I said that's all I needed to hear.

That would have to be also one reason it failed on the phone side of thing, it's not really convenient to take around.

At least you could sidetalk on it!

"There are two types of people in this world: those who sidetalk, and those who don't" : Nokia

Umm, so what is Sidetalk exactly? Does it mean you use it horizontally opposed to vertically?

Umm, so what is Sidetalk exactly?

I was wondering the same thing.

Nokia is selling their games for 9.99 euro to you crazy Europeans.

I am Anthony. Not Shannon.

Blah, as a crazy european I'm dissapointed they're all downloaded versions. I'd get High Seize for 10 bucks if I got a nice case around it.

The topic title is misleading lol I was under the impression that nokia had just disowned themselves from making n gage games and systems (o maybe they have already lol). I remember wanting an n gage when it first came out, thank god I didnt get one. I am still looking forward to buying one someday because there is a nice little game library to collect, hwever the systems are still more than I want them to be, I will consider buying one when I can get a boxed QD on ebay for less than $100, maybe more like $80

You're all just a bunch of haters. Untill a month ago I was still using my N-Gage QD and I loved it. I especially loved it when I forgot to take a handheld with me and I ended up having time to kill. Nothing better than having an NES emulator on hand at all times. As a phone it functioned just fine. Nokia phones in general have better sound quality than other brands of phone. Don't take my word for that either. Go ask some of the experts over at howard forums.

chrisbid - my new HTC Wizard pocket PC is a perfect all-in-one and all functions work just dandy and then some. It does more than I'll ever need. Not all companies fail at all-in-ones, just the American companies.

Wow, I'm amazed this topic is still pretty high up.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Honestly I didn't think there would be any fans of it for the reasons I mentioned above.
Something so big, and doesn't even fit into my pocket I would never of ever considered it to pass as a phone. But that's just me personally, it's good to have a wide variety of opinions all on the one forum.

Personally I could never stand flip phones or any phone that isn't solid. Most of the N-Gage owners I know aren't gamers actually. That phone is capable of a lot more than gaming, just that you have to install programs on the phone to get it to do the other stuff (movie watching, blah). When the QD was new there weren't many phones on the market toting certain capabilities.

Don't like flip phones? I have to have a flip, I can't stand using key lock. Plus with the value of phones these days now protecting the screen is a big deal, especially since it's now all the more important to see it.

But then again, that's just me, as a lot of mobiles are not flip still.

Completely unrelated, but popped to mind cause of your sig, Stitch is cool
