Could this be an omen for a cut in the US as well?

I would think so.

I don't know if it implies a cut for PS3s stateside. The PS3s en route to the US have probably been on a Container Ship for a long while, so if this cut was recent then there probably is no immediate effect on the US PS3 launch. However, if this information was withheld for a while then it could be likely that the US could see reduced numbers as well.

Well, since the U.S. release is 6 days after the Japan release, and the Japan release volume reduction was just announced yesterday, an announcement for the U.S. volumes may be forthcoming in the next few days/early next week.

Cutting Japan by 20K...man! I guess that means 19900 more Wii's and 100 more 360s get sold this holiday season. ;)
