Well I thought this would be a good first poll for our chat.  Which FF game do you like the best, based on the Japanese numbering system?

I love a good RPG, but have never gotten around to playing any of the Final Fantasy games.

Too many long cutscenes from what I've heard.

I voted for seven because that is the only one I have played a lot.

i like the first one. i almost have it beat too. been a while since i worked on it. i guess i know what i am doing tonight.

VII, only one I ever enjoyed from the four or so I've played.

I don't like RPGs...except for the following:

Shenmue I/II
Mario RPG
The Zelda Series
Deus Ex
Shaq-Fu RPG (http://redlof.ath.cx/stuff/shaqfu12.zip) (Great RPG based off an even better game)

I voted for the first one. Its the only one I've played. A friend and I beat it, we maxed all our characters at level 50 and were able to beat the final boss with one spell from one character and one attack by another character. Our characters names were;

BoB!
Bich
Drky
FuBr

It was totaly awesome...

Haha  My wife beat FF1 a while ago and her character names were:

FIST (Fighter)
STAR (White Mage)
DARK (Black Mage)
HIYA (Blackbelt)

My favorite FF game though is VI.

I've only played one Final Fantasy (FFX), so I can't really vote on this poll. I will say though that Chrono Trigger is the best RPG ever created by man.

Shaq Fu RPG wins that award TraderJake.

Played one on the nes, never could beat the original till the GBA release.  Even played the PS1 release.
Played two on the PS1 release, didnt beat it till the GBA release as well.
Never played 3 as it wasnt released till the DS and while it's finaly out, I'm still in no hurry as I want to atleast play the original untill I try a re-make.
Played the hell out of 4 on the SNES, loved and beat it then.  I got it for the ps1 but I dont remember playing it, and I eventualy got it for the GBA and played it quite a bit and am enjoying the extra dungeons at the end.
Played alot of 5 on the PS1 release but never beat it though I did get far in the game.
Played 6 and still consider it the best of the series to date.  Had it on the SNES played to death, beat to death.  Had it on the PS1 and never played at all.  Hope they give it a decent release for the GBA though if the way things are looking proove true, we wont be seeing a release for it on the GBA as so many game shops are pulling out of GBA stuff and are refusing to sell new games.
I own all but 11 of 7-12, but each and every single one has been a disapointment to me shy of 10.  X-2 was a horible game that I couldnt even get an hour into before I was bored with.


I voted for 6.  There was some good stuff in the first six games released in the series, but excluding X, there hasnt been much after it that left me with a good feeling.  Too much emo, not enough quality.  Also, FFXI should have never been released as a part of the main series.  It's just another MMORPG.  It has as much to do with being a FF game as FF has with being Final.

FFIII in the US is FFVI in japan correct?

i had to go with xii. i really dont like the other ones but i will admit vii got me into rpgs but i think its far from great

What about FF Tactics, Tactics advance, or any of the Crystal Chronicles games?

Final Fantasy Tactics is my main choice.

Contrary to mass opinion I also enjoyed Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/getinfo.pl?ID=U-044-S-01880-A) as well, a laid back fun romp without the grueling hours of leveling up.

All 3 of those were also alot of fun.

I should go back and finish getting all the items in Crystal Chronicles...

I've played 1, 2, 3, 4, a tiny bit of 6, X, and XII. My vote would have been 6 even though I hardly played it simply because I know the story of the game, it has one badass plot twist, and the main villain is 10X more badass and psychotic than any other villain.

My vote is for 6... the first RPG I played with a great story.  While not my favorite RPG of all time (that goes to Chrono Trigger), it's right up there.

I also really like 5, but I'm a sucker for the job system.

I really liked 1, but I would have to say the FF game with the most play time in my library was FF7.

They aren't true FF games.  That's why they are on NOT on the list.

It was tough but FF VI won out.  The story, opera scene, ATB, and Joib system won.  I LOVE the job system in FF games. :rofl:

Final Fantasy VII, and Tactics are by far my fav.
Was wrapped with VIII when I 1st got it, thinking wow this is going to be so much better than VII........ man was I disappointed. Square have never won me back since that. Even Tactics Advance disappointed me further... I get the feeling Square's earlier titles may of been a fluke.

I also voted for this one, although my vote is a bit skewed since I only played the first one and the fourth (Mystic Quest)..and from those two, the only one I played long enough to beat was Mystic Quest (really easy, too ;)). 

Kefka makes 6 one of the best games imo.
