Title: Laptop died Post by: shaggy on February 25, 2007, 11:36:39 AM So the Harddrive on my laptop died. I will not be on as often until I get a new harddrive. It should be coming this week so hopefully I will be on more often than. Luckily I backed up a couple weeks before it died... :grrr:
Title: Re: Laptop died Post by: TraderJake on February 25, 2007, 11:41:54 AM That sucks, I'd be pretty ticked off if my laptop died, though I have some sort of ultra mega warranty that I wish it would die so I'd get a new one.
Title: Re: Laptop died Post by: James on February 25, 2007, 11:56:56 AM My laptop is a beat up old wreck. It's got panels missing and the screen hinge is cracked right through on both sides. The screw for the hard drive is long gone, so it sometimes just falls out. It's been through two new sticks of memory. It had an MP3 player built into the front of it but that stopped working ages ago. I once dropped it from about a foot off the ground onto the wireless card plugged into the side. Something broke off inside because of that.
It still works, though. Title: Re: Laptop died Post by: Tan on February 26, 2007, 12:48:41 AM Get yourself a Linux live disc, many different distros of it to choose from. That way without a HDD you'll still be able to use Firefox and IM.

Title: Re: Laptop died Post by: Tynstar on February 26, 2007, 04:33:28 PM Bummer
Good luck on getting the new one setup. Title: Re: Laptop died Post by: shaggy on March 03, 2007, 06:14:43 PM Well, I got the HD and ran into some problems. My copy of XP I couldn't use because the Dell didn't come with a product key for it. it partitions a part of the HD with the product key in it but seeing my original HD crashed I have no product key. Microsoft made me use one of my licenses for Onecare because I didn't uninstall the program from my old HD. What a bunch of ass monkeys. I think I'll be getting rid of Onecare because of this and going with something else for virus scanning after the subscription is up.
