Immersion, Sony settle patent suit

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Immersion Corp., a maker of hardware and software that simulates tactile feelings to enhance on-screen events, said Thursday it settled a patent lawsuit with Sony Computer Entertainment, and will "explore" the use of Immersion technology in PlayStation products.

Under the agreement, Immersion will receive twelve quarterly payments of $1.875 million beginning in March, for a total of $22.5 million, and will pay Immersion certain other fees and royalties, while Immersion granted Sony licenses for some of its patents, and covenants not to sue.

Shares of Immersion closed down 7 cents at $7.23 on the Nasdaq

To be fair, the AP story came out at 6:01 PM Eastern, which is of course after the markets close.
