Title: Little question about Game Gear
Post by: Arqueologia Digital on March 14, 2007, 11:59:40 PM
Hi there guys!, i have a little question, ´cos i´m not a true GG expert, so i expect you could help me. Someone has offered me an european Game Gear, but the screen seems to be bad, because it only appears the half of the screen. Does this have any solution?, maybe changing the screen, but...very expensive...or impossible. Please, tell me.

Cheers!

It wouldn't be impossible, but a new screen for it might cost more than you could find a whole other GG for.

I'd just buy one which works. They don't go for very much on UK E-bay, I'm not sure if they'd screw you on postage and packaging, but at least there would be some guarantees.

If you're electronically inclined, and have the security bit for the screw that's located in the cartridge slot, you could buy a non working one, and try to swap out the screens.

I have a question since we are on the Game Gear subject...

Does anyone happen to know much about the first gen Game Gears that had a flat glass screen? I recently read about it, and up until then, I had just assumed they all had the plastic screen. If anyone has one, are the screens flat, or bubbled like the second gens were?   ... and is there a good way to tell the differance between a 1st gen, and a 2nd gen with the plastic screen? I know the last run was black instead of drak grey, and instead of the red/green/blue ovals that are located on the left of the screen, the ovals were light grey.

I'm just wondering, because I'm looking for one, and it's hard to distinguish wether or not they have a glass screen on eBay.

Thanks again people!.

I have a Game Gear I found, but it's a little scratched up.
I got  batteries for it and it works fine though, although the batteries have died now.

Naa, I was thinking more of giving it away.
As far as buying new stuff, the Saturn is my collection piece.

So true,
Sent an item I sold on eBay, dude receiving the item filed for it having not arrived yet even though it wasn't due yet. PayPal ignored this and now say they already ruled in the buyers favour so it doesn't matter what happened after  :-\
Not such a biggy I guess if it wasn't for a considerable amount of money... but after months of trying I've given up, and am currently waiting for a reply before giving in and paying PayPal.... still waiting... been a week  ::)

After that's it's all good and I'll let you know.
