Title: Fable
Post by: Zimbacca on September 09, 2004, 05:06:59 PM
So anyone else as excited about fable as I am? I reserved it last week and paid the whole thing up front. So I've been bumped a head of everyone else and can pick it up the day before its scheduled to come out here. I've watched to bones disk they gave me and holy crap it looks awesome.

I am thinking about reserving it sometime in the next 4 days or so if i still can. If not o well i will get it greatest hits in a few months and save 40 bucks.

I won't reserve it, nor will I pay full price for it, but I'm really looking forward to renting it!  It sounds pretty good.

I cant handle the influx of sweet games coming out.  I don't know if I will be able to keep from buying them all immediatly.  I already know that I am buying Silent Hill immediatly, and Fable and Halo 2 will probably be bought too.

The only way to get fable and halo2 here are to reserve them.

Currently switching over MK Deception reserve to Fable. I already had payed for another MK: D anyways.

As big of sellers as these are bound to be, I'm sure it wont be too long before they get a second shipment in, so I'm not too worried.

Out here we're not top priority for shipments so I had to reserve it.

I couldnt reserve it so im gonna give my mom the cash and have her pick it up when the store opens. I was going to wait till it went to Platinum Hits but then noone will care anymore.

I weas thinking about this right after getting my wallet to ask my mom to pick up a copy"when will i honestly have time to play this game?" so i am going to go back on my previous posts and wait until it is cheaoer because i won't be able to play it now anyways.

It was pretty funny while I was in the mall going to all the other game stores saying things like "check it out I got fable." And then they'd get jealous off because they didn't even have it in stock.

Did anyone try to buy it from you? Friend of mine was pissed to i told him i knew a kid on the west coast that got it today and his face shriveled in disgust and hatred.

No, but the guy at Game Crazy was pretty pissed that I got it before they even got it in stock. He said something like “god damn game stop they're always braking the rules”.

I am picking up the game tomorrow. I am going to have to call a few stores but hopefully i can pull some strings and get a copy. When people skip school to play day of release and other kids play it for 7+ hours after school i know i should give it a try. People were like if you have an Xbox buy this game... You have to join us on the Journey.
I was pretty brainwashed. so i guess i am going to drop some cash down now so i can play for the weekend at least.

One of my friends skipped school yesterday so he could play it all day.

I rented it last night.  Haven't played it yet though.  How does everyone like it so far?

Kid at school was also heard incoherently saying"Think of the bets game you have ever played ok your thinking of it right ok think of it know multiply that by like 1000 and its still not good enough."
If i can get a copy i will try to play it all weekend.

I did get a copy today. Didnt have to pull any stings there was like 25 copys sitting on a shelf. I played it for about 2.5 hours. It is a really good game overall. But there is some stuff that is kind of a pain to deal with.

I haven't played it, but read the review in EGM, and it sounded like the thing didn't deserve all the hype it got.  What I read (note that I have not played it yet) is that it has too much button-mashing, the side quests are too stupid, the puzzles are too lame, and the game is way too freaking small.  They said something like: it is as "deep as the ocean" but only as "wide as a swimming pool."

My friend beat the main quest in Fable in under 15 hours minus the time he spent screwing around under 12. The ending sounds really dissapointing too. None the less i find the game very enjoyable even with its flaws. Just imagine how much better it could have been if there were none.
I just remembered MK Deception is supposed to have a 15 or 20 hour quest in it. It beat a game thats genre is soley based on that... how sad.

I played it for like an hour earlier this week (for me that's a long time to play a game in one night), so that says something right there.  I thought it was pretty good.  The question is - when will it be played again?  Hopefully this weekend or next week.

On a side note, does anyone else find that pathetic?  I'm a huge gaming fan, I even run my own dedicated site, but I have trouble finding 30 minutes in a week just to play a game (of which I love so much)?  That's like an alcoholic who doesn't drink.

You sure are pathetic indeed.

On a more serious note, is the game actually fun to play for an hour? Most rpg's are only fun when played for longer, since you get so little done in an hour.

I spend hours doing nothing in fable.  I really can say that the main problem with this game is it's way to fucking short.

One of my friends just bought this game, and he said that he was just blown away by it.  I might go and pick this game up since I'm almost done with Silent Hill.

My friends are currently seeing who can beat the game the fastest. They are aiming for 5-6 hours. I am positive they will get it done in around 6 hours. They are just thoughs kinds of people.

That's nuts.  I'll bet you it takes me a lot longer to beat it.  I still haven't played it again, but when I do rest assured it will be for an hour.  At this rate, it will take me over a year to finish it.  That's not bad in my books.

I am finally getting mine tomorrow. I can't wait to play it. To bad Halo 2 is coming out next week. I will have to beat Fable quick. ;)

Don't worry you can beat it in one sitting if you play straight through.

Some reason is tellign me my wife would not like me to do that. Then again I don't want to beat it in one sitting.

My friend beat it in under 10 hours. I knew a few kids going for the 6 hour mark. I wonder if they made it. I should ask them.

I played Fable a few weekends ago after a plateful of "brownies".  I had a blast, though I have no clue where I am or what I'm supposed to do now when I fire it up.

That would be me  :D

I had no idea it was that short. I mean I played through good that time. This time I am going through it evil and I am near the 18 hour point. Its fun being evil...

I played and beat fable and while I enjoyed myself I feel the game didn't live up to the hype. the character ages really fast (if you don't know what i mean, remove his helmet towards the end of the game and his hair should be completely white but that may have something to do with the path you choose) and isn't nearly as customizable as I expected, appearance wise anyway. I liked the ability customizing system although i feel the strength and skill could have had some more in depth abilities. I found it shorter than I expected and was also dissapointed you cant compete in the arena more than once. But it was still a pretty good game.

I noticed the aging as well. It is funny how it keeps track of th time spent on it. It would say some thing like 10 hours plays . Then days in game gone by 4 but your chatacter  would have aged 40 years.
