MARIO AND SONIC AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES   :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

In all my years as I gamer, I never thought that I'd see these two bitter rivals team up for a game...on a Nintendo platform nonetheless!

Now, before you get all excited for this game, let me just say right off the bat that I think it will suck hardcore. Why do I say that?

1. It's a game made for the Olympics. How many good video games based on the Olympics are there? None.
2. It feels like a ginormous cash in for nostalgia's sake on Nintendo and Sega's part.
3. Chances are it will be like Wii Sports and be very simplistic.
4. Sega's track record as of late is, how should I put this, quite lackluster.

Don't think that I'm all negative about this game, because I think it could be great for a few reasons.

1. It will be fun like Wii Sports
2. This could open the door to Sonic being in Smash Bros.
3. The last game that Sega and Nintendo jointly developed, F-Zero GX, was incredible.

So, Nintendo and Sega, bring it on. Prove me wrong.

One game based on the Olympics that was actually very good was Decathlon from Activision for the 2600.

I like the idea of Sonic on Smash Bros.

It could surprise. Flip a coin. Lately, whatever Mario is in turns to gold, whatever Sonic is in turns to dust.

I added a poll to the thread just for fun.

Throw Crash, Bubsy, Bonk, Bomberman and Gex into that and Nintendo can say they've got all the strays.  :P

War of the console mascots! I like that idea, but too bad it would require so much licensing.

If it is a race between Mario and Sonic, Sonic better win or it will be lame. :)

I dunno, if mario's on a kart he can be pretty speedy.

No way still Sonic. Cart couldn't handle the loops and sudden stop and jumps.

Now if it is a block breaking contest then Mario hands down.

Sounds like it could be a good game if they make it simular to the Wii sports title.

Or a swimming contest.

It'll be good if Sega turns over development to Nintendo.

According to Nintendo's press release (http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=11783) there's a bit more than just track and field.  That means some swimming action and table tennis.

I agree with Sonic beating Mario on speed flat out.  Maybe riding Yoshi might give him a little boost.

I thought they encourage athletes to refrain from such activities before a competitive event.  ;)

I kind of liek this idea.  Sounds like the game could be alot of fun!

But it does seem like Sonic would have an unfair advantage in a race.  He's Sonic the F'ing Hedgehog for Christ sakes!  At least Mario will take him in the shot put.
