Well, I have a ton of vid game magazines.  I was wondering if there is a place similar to this, only a videogame MAGAZINE database...?  Or is there even a magazine database where you could track your collection?  I think it would be kinda cool... :slick:

I dont know of one, but if you do....let us know cause I'm sure there's alot of people that'd love to hear about it.

Also, I think this topic has been briefly mentioned elsewhere (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=4901.msg74973#msg74973) that maybe we could pull this together ourselves provided our resident programmers provide the framework.  Of course what they do with their time is up to them.  Its nice to see neat things like Toddler Generation to spice things up every so often too.  I'm aware that the most likely immediate changes are gonna be to make this site look more spiffy and standards compliant (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=4934.msg76884#msg76884).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it would be cool.  :) 

I would love to have a magazine database.

Well kids, I can tell you that there will be a third database added along with the next release of the submissions system. Keep in mind that there is the site redesign and a staff set of scripts that are in the pipeline before version 4 of the submission system. There are two real candidates:

• Gaming Memorabilia (Trinkets, Magazines, etc)
• Arcade Systems

One of those databases will be crafted with the next version of the submissions system. We can roll new databases, but we got to make sure that not only the demand is there but also that it is able to be maintained and grown by someone or some group.

When it comes to be about the time that I start worrying about the next database there will be a poll of sorts to judge demand. I'm not about to make a database if the demand is not there.

Awesome news.  :D  Just my 2 cents...but I bet a lot more people have a lot of videogame trinkets and magazines than arcade systems. ;)

both additions would be amazing (considering i do collect both of those)

but, as much as it hurts me to say it, i dont think there will be much interest in the arcade section beside with me and few select others.....if one of the 2 has to get pushed back, i would amazingly say push back the arcade section.....

Yeah, probably not too many people own them, but it would be nice to list them all. I think both of those would be good additions to the site.

Can't go wrong with either really... :)  I wish I wasn't so poor, so I could afford some cool arcade units! lol...

i definitely recommend getting one......i love having my machines.....worth every penny.....

It would be really cool if the magazine database had a list of what systems were coverd in every issue of every magazine and a running tally could be kept on which systems were covered the most. I would really be interested to see who was covering systems like the Amiga or the 7800. That sounds like the kind of ridiculous thing I would enjoy.

Better start learning how to code...

Yeah, that's probably something I should know already. I know so little about the technical stuff it's almost embarassing. I've still got big dreams though.
