I like the black look. I have a 360 and wont be upgrading to an Elite until I get a better TV. MS should discontinue the Core edition.

I don't own a 360 and I don't plan on picking it up, or the Premium one, or the Core one. But I might end up with an original Xbox sometime soon so I can get the Oddworld games, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Psychonauts (the better version), JSRF, and Shenmue 2. But I do want to get Intelligent Qube and both Tomba games on PS1, and those alone would cost as much as Xbox if not more.

I'ld like to get one eventually.  The price is a bit steep, and I would like to top off my Dreamcast collection and maybe pick up a PS2.  Of course, I'm a Halo fan, and Halo 3 coupled with a big price drop would definately sway me to drop a little more money than I'm confortable with.

If it's more important then why did PS2 completely crush it? ;)

I don't base my collections off of how much a commercial success the systems were.  If I would, I'ld have an all Greatest Hits ps1 collection or an all Platinum hits Xbox collection.

I'd cringe at the thought of having those red and white spines corrupting my shelves.   :paranoid:

OatBob, you know I'm just giving you a hard time, as I always do. :D

PS2 greatest hits labeling isn't as bad as Xbox (or even worse: Xbox 360) platinum hits.

Tan: What about Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, which is only available as a greatest hits, or in the DMC trilogy box set (in which there is no greatest hits labeling, but no UPC). That make your head a'splode?

Getting back on topic.

I own a 360, but don't plan to upgrade to the Elite. I do like the Elite's black design and the 120gb HD, though, as well as the HDMI port with cable. If I didn't have a 360 already, I'd definitely get the Elite. They're supposed to be limited release, though. So get it when it comes out!

You are such a fanboy that even the GH badging is better then the PH.  ::)

Phoenix, I have a feeling that the Elite is here to stay and chances are it will become the same price as the current premium model this fall around the Halo 3 launch, at which time the premium will become the price of the core.

Tynstar: ROFL! ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't have a problem with the 360's labeling, at least the Platinum hits looks the same now. I just like the uniformity on the shelf is all regardless of system. When you've got dozens/hundreds of games with black spines for multiple systems, a red, white or yellow one sticks out like a sore thumb.

Also you know it's a reprint so as a collector you know it's a tad shy of being a real deal original copy. If they were all red, all white or all yellow it wouldn't matter as long as it's original. I am 3/4 player 1/4 collector, but I do afford myself a few luxuries. I find I can take more pride in my collection that way, bot has an investment and as a aesthetically pleasing display. No different in my opinion than having loose and CIB for the same system.

As far as DMC3 SE, I'd prefer the Original if i was inclined to buy that game. The best personal example I can give you is that i own Fable for the Xbox but not Fable the Lost Chapters. 1 because Fable is an original release and 2 because Lost Chapters is Platinum hits only and not enough content to warrant a second purchase of the same game twice.

Back on topic, I wouldn't upgrade to a Elite unless as Tynstar said, I've got the TV to use it. I've got 13 gig free on my HDD now, which is pretty much what i had when I bought it, and that's with 50+ game saves and content on it. I would buy a black controller or two though, one for PC and one for the 360. Besides that I'm sure a new "Elite" will come around when 65 nano hits, with maybe a few more features as well.

I believe they are going to be discontinuing it...
I could very well be wrong though.
PS3 has already dicontinued their 20 gig model(or was it their 60gig model.... i forget now...)

I was just surprised to happen across info on the 360 Elite because a couple months ago we had information on pricing for a Black 120 gig 360 while i was at work.

It was a cryptic price change sheet only but i couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

Originally it was supposed to only cost 20-50$s more than the premuim 360.
Looking at EBs website though its over 100$s more.
There is a cool bundle though for 8$s more you get Guitar Hero with the system.

Just checked the page and their link is already gone for the preorders....
