Title: Microsoft bans modded 360s
Post by: captain_nintendo on May 24, 2007, 11:32:16 AM
 Article here  (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6171135.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newsfeatured&tag=featurednews;title;4)

"Console maker nixes Xbox Live access for systems that it determines have been altered "to try and maintain a fair gaming environment."

I hated when people used soft mods to cheat on Halo 2. I also dont want to see Halo 3 or my current favorite "Phantasy Star Universe" get hacked.

Yeah. I remember when H2 came out with some of the older map packs and people were using hacks and such to exploit them. It took a few patches before being able to see that they were using mods and ban them from the service.

I'm glad to see that Bungie/Microsoft is taking a hard stand against modders. Nothing makes a game less fun than a couple of idiots that don't want to play fair.

Wait, how is hacking modding?

I thought modding was like

Am I wrong?

If all you change is the case then that is a mod. But a lot of the time people but bigger hard drives in and software that lets people cheat . Those are hackers and ruined Halo 2.

Yeah. They're using the terminology interchangeably. Their definition of modding is what's considered to be hacking.

I guess the word I'd use to describe the photo Leon put up is "customizing" since it's only changing the appearance of the 360 and not the hardware/software.
