Title: TRANSFORMERS
Post by: Mike Leon on July 03, 2007, 02:20:18 AM
Just saw it. Surprisingly incredible.

It drags a little in the first half building to something the audience already knows (as if anyone who sees this movie didn't know it had giant robots?) and Optimus Prime has some really cheesy lines about the rights to freedom and other stupidity, but those were the only complaints from anyone in the bunch.

The story is pretty predictable summer disaster schlock with standard pc portrayals of empowered females and people uniting as one to fight the undeniable evil, but

OMG GIANT MOTHERFUCKING ROBOTS!!!!

They make up for any shortcomings and then some. The action sequences are amazing.

Also, there is some great comic banter throughout the whole film. That surprised me. Clever dialogue in a summer action movie? Unheard of. Shia LaBeouf also works surprisingly well.

I need to see this this but not for a few weeks. I will let the crowds die down first.

Yes, it blew me away by being full of awesome action and some hilarious dialogue. I think somewhere in there was a crappy Micheal Bay movie, and if you look real close you can probably see the crappy movie...still...it's freaking sweet.

Agreed. If you examine it too closely, it's a shallow piece of garbage. There are lots of ridiculous plot jumps and some of the characters and situations are just not believable. I promise you nowhere will you ever meet a computer hacker that looks like Rachael Taylor. They don't make them. Hell, Morgan Webb is probably the hottest geek on the planet and she's even kind of chubby. And why does Sam hide the Autobots from his parents during the scene where he's searching his house for the glasses? Wouldn't it make more sense just to say, "Look Mom, these are my giant alien robot friends and they need those glasses." I'm pretty sure she would understand.

This movie is starting to piss me off. Has an 8.3 on IMDB...more evidence that all you need to do to impress the masses is blow shit up and make funnies.

Oh yeah, I ended up seeing it last thursday. It was one of the best bad movies I have seen. It was hilarious, action packed, and managed to have so many flaws all at the same time. Anyway, it was a hell of a lot of fun.

After seeing it i can see where many of the complaints are founded.

Read the book. It fills in the missing parts of the story plus it is good all on its own.

I don't even know how they could do a second one...
Unless they make it a prequel....

It's a trilogy. Shia LaBouf and Megan Fox signed for 3 movies.

This movie was unbelieveable. I thought Michael Bay was gonna butcher it but it was a tour de force.

Optimus Prime has some really cheesy lines about the rights to freedom and other stupidity.

Cheesy? Maybe, but the lines fit his character and personality perfectly.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

Also, the movie was great. Yes, I know there were a few plot holes. (IDC)

Like i said before.
Read the book.

There is a bunch of different stuff but it fills in the things where the movie seemingly jumped from one thing to another.

That completely defeats the purpose of a movie if you have to read a book to understand it.

Unless of course you own the rights to the movie/book.

i have no plans to read the book or watch the movie.  if i want to see a comercial for chevy i'll turn on my tv and watch it for free in 30-60 second spots.  not go to a theator and pay $9 for it.

I totally agree. This is why I blast people for saying "Well, you really have to read the books to understand LOTR or Harry Potter."

I had a film professor who said "every film is propaganda." It was the only smart thing he ever said. When it comes down to it, I'd rather watch an obvious commercial that has fights between giant robots than most of the pretentious award winning crap people tell me is so great.

Crash? Childish melodramatic glurge.

Sideways? Boring.

Munich? Incredibly bland and indifferent.

Transformers? GIANT ROBOTS! GIANT ROBOTS! GIANT ROBOTS!

I finally saw this and it wasn't good. 1-5 maybe a 2. Too many stupid parts that made the movie too damn long. Th especial effects where are but thats about it.
