Title: Favorite Movie of 2004
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on September 28, 2004, 04:57:01 PM
Okay, so 2004 isn't over yet, but what's your favorite movie that was released this year so far?  For all I care, this can be a movie made and released this year, or just something released in your country since the biginning of '04 (like Hero here in the states).

Speaking of Hero, that was a really cool movie...  but a little too choreographed and over the top for me.  I know that was the intended style, but it's nto quite to my personal taste.  (I'm only referring to the fight scenes there - the rest of the movie - epic story, cinematography, music, color, lighting, etc. were awesome.)

My personal favorite for the year is probably Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.  I'm probably alone here on that one, and that's pretending any of you have seen it or heard of it.  Very very good movie - perhaps in my top ten of all time.  Jim Carrey at his best (I try to forget his worst).

A close second for favorite of the year is probably Spider-Man 2.

I have only seen comercials for this a few times isnt it about a guy who has some brain thing where he loses his memories and remembers things that never happened or in a different way than they happened?
Best movie of the year so far is Spiderman 2. I know something will top it for me though.
There were alot of movies this year that looked extremely good though such as the previously mentioned Hero.

My favorite movie of the year was either Resident evil: apocalypse, or Shaun of the Dead.

I havn't seem too many, but my current top pick from this year is Big FIsh.  Simply a great movie.  I wanted to see Eternal Sunshine but never got around to it.  I'll check that out.

Oh I forgot about Big Fish.  That was '04?  How the year flies by.  That's also a very good one, though I think I'd still put it at #4 of the year on my list.  I know some of you hated it, but I also forgot to mention Signs.  #3 of the year for me, regardless of how much so many people claim it sucked.

So there are no votes for 13 Going on 30?!

has shaun of the dead even been released yet over here?  that does look really good.
also really lliked butterfly effect, but just recently found out that was because of the director's cut ending.... i didnt even see the regular ending to that movie.  was swimming pool in 2004?  that was another good one that had me thinking about it long after the movie was over...
i'm sure that i will think of more.

I just saw Shaun of the Dead, and it's okay.  It's decent for a zombie movie, but to be honest, it's nothing to get excited about.  Definitely fun to watch, but 28 Days Later (I know it's technically not a zombie movie but whatever) is a lot better in my opinion.  The "romantic comedy with zombies" thing is way overplayed.

I havent seen too many movies this year for some reason so... I'd say my favorite was the one where there wasnt a Matrix sequel released this year.

Sounds like a sadistic Clockwork Orange. Though Clockwork Orange is pretty sadistic.

I just watched most of the new looney toons movie and that was pretty good.
It had flashbacks from alot of the old cartoons which was cool.
