Title: What is a zoopraxiscope?
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on October 15, 2004, 11:18:35 PM
I was just wondering if anyone (Mark) could describe what exactly a zoopraxiscope is, without cheating and searching on google.  Anybody have any idea?  It is, after all, one of the things we're supposed to discuss in this forum, so we should probably discuss it.

It's one of those things they made up before electricity was invented. Circular shaped, with lots of images inside, so if you turned the circle, you'd see the images moving. I believe Edison invented it.

That was non google. Now I'm going to look for a picture ON GOOGLE.

Interesting.  Edison doesn't get enough credit from the film industry.  He pretty much invented everything that had anything to do with motion pictures.  Even George Eastman should get more credit for all the things he did for the industry.  The only thing anyone knows his name for is the Kodak company, but he had a lot to do with the invention of motion film.  They both were awesome.
