Title: I Am Legend. Post by: hXd on December 29, 2007, 01:47:28 AM GREAT movie, I highly recommend it. I'm usually not a Will Smith person but I feel that this is one of his best performances since The Pursuit Of Happyness. Any other comments?
Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: Zimbacca on December 29, 2007, 02:57:16 AM I really liked it too. but it was weird for me to watch because I just kept saying to myself "He was on the fresh prince of bel-air."

That's me and every Will Smith movie. :P Hard to envision him as a scientist let alone an air force Colonel or a stockbroker or cop. It's like trying to imagine Rick Moranis as a Terminator. Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: den68 on December 29, 2007, 08:22:49 PM Rick Moranis as a Terminator. "I'll be back, eh!" I still want to see I Am Legend. I loved the book and am a big fan of the last version, The Omega Man. I don't know if Will Smith can top Charleton Heston. But who can? Title: Re: I Am Legend. I might go see it this coming weekend.
Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: Hydrobond on December 31, 2007, 04:48:26 PM See this movie.
It is one of Smith's best movies, up there with Men In Black. He had a lot of help from the CG guys though. The vacant New York City was really, really well done. Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: phoenix1967 on December 31, 2007, 04:57:03 PM I wouldn't call "I Am Legend" a great film. Good. But not great.
I think a lot depends on the viewer's ability to suspend one's disbelief. There are a couple of scenes in particular where you're going to be scratching your heads with "But I thought..."s and "But what about..."s. There was also an abundance of blatant product placement in the 1st 10-15 minutes of the movie, and some questionable camera choices, which took me out of the experience of the movie in general from time to time. Technically, the sound and sound effects were outstanding. The story was solid. And Wil Smith did a good job. Overall, a very entertaining movie...but do so at matinee prices. 2.5 or 3 stars out of 4 (depending on your ability and willingness to suspend disbelief). Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: Tynstar on January 02, 2008, 04:40:22 PM This movie kicked ass. Was very very strange to see New York empty, Plus no music in the movie added to the emptiness. Go see it. Will Smith has been a star on TV, music and movies. Who else has been like that?
Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on January 16, 2008, 10:38:48 AM The first half of the movie was great, haunting and what not; good cinematography throughout. But then, at one single point, the story plummets to its death and gets retarded. They seemed to base the movie more off of The Omega Man than I Am Legend.
Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: Shimra on January 22, 2008, 03:56:52 PM I didn't like this one that much. It had some really really corny parts, the zombies or whatever felt kinda tacked on considering they were hardly in the movie and they played a huge part, the ending was abrupt and anticlimactic, the beginning 2/3 or whatever really set the tone even though it was honestly a bit contrived. I dunno, the movie just kinda didn't feel as though it was fully fleshed out, or for that matter finished.
Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: den68 on January 27, 2008, 09:47:20 AM I saw I Am Legend last night. I agree the ending was rather abrubt. It kind of snuck up on you. Other than that I thought it was very good. I read the book and I've seen The Omega Man many times. The fact that I Am Legend was closer the Omega Man than the book didn't bother me. Omega man is one of my favorite movies.

Title: Re: I Am Legend. Post by: Sirgin on October 16, 2008, 11:10:41 AM I feel that this is one of his best performances since The Pursuit Of Happyness. That doesn't surprise me since he immediately did I Am Legend after The Pursuit Of Happyness. :P ;)Will Smith has been a star on TV, music and movies. Who else has been like that? Only a very small group of people according to his Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_smith).He's also said to be the most powerful actor on the planet. He's also the best grossing actor ever and the only actor in history to have eight consecutive films gross over $100 million in the domestic box office. Title: Re: I Am Legend. Great start, lousy cop-out ending. Underrated on the whole though. Also, I have read the book, which is very different from this film. I think they should have called the movie something different, since a lot of the complaints about the film are based on these huge differences. Maybe if people could just see it as a film separate from the book it might have been better received. In the end, I'll watch Will Smith in just about anything. He has the ability to make pure crap watchable (Men in Black II?) which is a rare gift. |
