Title: It's happened, RROD on my XBOX 360 (update)
Post by: captain_nintendo on December 31, 2007, 02:37:06 PM
So, after over 2 years of gaming on my current Xbox 360, my hardware fails. The dreaded RED RING OF DEATH happens.

Thankfully though, Microsoft extended the warrant to a full 3 years on this issue.  The bad news is that I will probably be without my 360 for around 4 weeks. This sucks, since I have just started to enjoy playing games other then Phantasy Star Universe exclusively again.

No worries, as Scott (tynstar) is happy to supply me with some 360 gaming goodness while my 360 is in for repair or replacement.

Anybody else had to send away their 360 for repairs?

What? RRoD? On a 360? How improbable!

;)

That sucks, maybe you'll get one with a new chipset.

That's something you don't see every day...

Don't worry man, there's a PS3 waiting with your name on it...

;) ;) ;)

But yeah, hopefully you get your 360 replaced quickly. How did this happen, by the way? Do you know what caused it?

and hopefully in 5 years, some decent games to go with it. ;)

Seriously though, that sucks man. Time to haul out the NES for some marathon 8-bit goodness to tide you over. :)

Damn, man. That SUCKS!  :grrr:

Hopefully you have a quick turnaround.

BTW, Cap, did you get yours at launch? Just curious.

I haven't had to send in a 360 yet, but I had to send in my PS2 4 times to get repaired. Needless to say, I feel your pain.

My 360 has a build date of October of the launch year, but I got mine about 25 days after launch due to a pre-order foul up by gamestop.

That being said, I treat my 360 like royalty. Plenty of cool air, and I barely ever move it. It sits in the open, and I make sure to dust the area at least twice a week, if not more. I also will vacuum out the vent holes once a week.

I guess this type of hardware failure is common. I feel lucky that it is happening now while I am still under the 3 year extended RROD warranty. ;D

As far as the PS3 goes, I am interested, but more price drops, and more games that I am actually interested in would be nice. 8)

Make sure you pull your HD.

Your not getting your pretty chrome system back either.

Core for you!

That will certainly stink, but if I get the new chip set, then it's "all good".
As for my hard drive, I pulled it already and it's at Scott's for achievement purposes. ;)

Just you wait. This year will be a big one for Sony's black box. 8)

And nice job getting the hard drive out of there.

When I got the RROD it only took about two weeks for me to get my box, and then for them to send me a new 360.

Got chrome model back  :)

Not too bad of a turn around time on the repair / replace.

I started it and ran for about 20 minutes. But now that I have a "new" warranty ;)

2 more years and another new 360 is fine by me :D

Thats cool that they gave you the proper system too.

I just remember when it first launched i knew at least 2 people who got cores when they had premiums.
