Question for SSB fans: do you recommend that I relearn the control scheme and learn to play with the wiimote-nunchuk combo, or should I say 'screw it!', and stick with the gamecube controller?

Stick with the GC controller. Play as Lucas.

Yes, they are. I called 2 Game crazy's and a game stop, then a second game stop, which has tonnes of them. I got laughed at by the first guy who picked up at game crazy. "Hello? Do you guys have any Wiis in stock? (NO! HAHA) Oh... OK"

Congrats!!  I picked one up last week, I was in Target and they had one so I figured why not.  I haven't opened it yet since I plan on giving it to my kids (3 boys ages 11, 8, & 6).  I just don't know for what yet, but I will find a reason and I am sure they will freak.  I am looking forward to seeing their reaction more then I am looking forward to playing it.  I stopped at the same Target a couple of days later and they had another one.  I was tempted to pick that up too and sell it but didn't want to bother since I already have so much I need to sell.

So herpes isn't the answer?

Now that you have a Wii, you need to buy the essential two games for any Wii collection: Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes. Those are the two best Wii games out there. Nothing else even comes close.

I've heard the Wiimote/nunchuck combo is pretty shitty for fighting games too but i'd try it out anyways.

It does suck... But the only problem is, my wavebird's control stick is broken, and the b button on my normal controller is a tad sticky. Guess I'll have to buy a new/used gc controller. Oh well...

PS: I now know that I truely do suck at SSB.

A thousand things crossed my mind when reading the subject of this thread and sadly none of them were clean nor safe for work.

Congrats on getting a Wii.  Lots of good games (lots of bad as well) await your time and money.  Enjoy.
