Just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with the Chat applet on this site. I'm not very techno sauvy and dont have mIRC. it could very well be something to do with the computer im using so any trouble shooting suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

It's not working for me either, I'm getting a "you are banned" message.
I forgot about the chat completely since we came back in April.

Im not getting any message like that. Just a big box with a little red x in the corner.

I just tried using the applet and it logged in ok.....

Probably missing plugins, or using IE :P

You need to have java installed. Also, if you are logging in from a place with a lot of users (like a school), it is likely and probably that quakenet g-lined (banned) that IP / network. I know that they did that for University of Cincinnati IPs.

Im am using IE. Why would that not let me into the chat applet?

Also I'm on a computer at work so its quite possible I need to download some sort of plug-in or activate something or other. Luckily I'm on the one computer (that I know of) in this company that doesnt have anything restricting my usage, so I can download or activate anything I would like. Does anyone have any common troubleshooting ideas I could try out to get it working or do I simply need to start using Firefox or something?

Well, try installing java first.

If that doesn't work, try downloading Chatzilla for Firefox. It's a nifty little extension.

This might sound stupid, but im pretty computer illiterate. How do you download Java?

After about a week of chat working just fine its no longer working for me. It is now coming up with an error when I click run chat applet that says something similar to "Cannot load Java runtime enviroment" and a box to click ok. Anyone know how to deal with this??
