Title: Collection tracking tool
Post by: Tynstar on November 17, 2004, 05:37:10 PM
I am not sure if this is the right forum for this. So please fell free to move this thread if needed.

I made this spreadsheet to track my collection. I thought it might be some use to other people.

Each worksheet is a complete list for all the US released games for that worksheets system.

Let me know if it is any help to you.

See the attached file next to the thread name.

I left this Excel file empty so people could use it.

Here is what my list look likes. I just put an X next to the stuff I have.

The price and scarcity I got from the Digital Press website.

Almost all the worksheets are formatted the same so you can import the list to a database program easily.

You guys really should take a look at this.  Tynstar sent me this over AIM earlier, and it is the best looking Excel collection aid I've ever seen.  Of course, I guess it's fairly biased towards U.S. releases, but it's still worth a look.  Very, very cool.

Damn is that sweet!
I like the little pie chart and the tabs across the bottom. (Never seen them before)

The only thing i would have done differently would be to include a column for what i payed for the game.

I thought of that but I had too many games already and didn't remember what I paid for them. Hell some of the Genesis, Intellivision and 2600 games I got when they came out.

That is very nice.  I'll have to download that and add it to my collection documentation.

Thanks!

If anyone wants a complete game list for a system not in that  spreadsheet let me know. I might be able to make one. Just dont ask for any current  systems.

LOL
I could help you out with that. I get a 2 or 3 (or more?)lists from different places on games that are coming out each month. So all i have to do is cross referance.

Nice work there! I've been using MS Access to keep tabs on my stuff. If you want to see it lemme know an I'll post it. Not as nice looking as your's for sure but I've always hated Excel...lol  ;)

Sure I would like to see the database.

The reason I made all the worksheets the same format is so you can impost them into Access.

I'm not a real whiz with databases but this works very well for me. Prolly cause I can sort and add things with ease. For some reason me and Excel never got along *shrug*
