Title: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: thx1138 on June 13, 2004, 01:07:05 AM Something I always wanted to do.
Yes, I'm sure there are a lot of alternatives I could try, to emulate such a thing. But I don't want to really. Just, one day, I'd like to get two colour t.v's, two PS1's and link them together and play DOOM, & that tank game. Probably won't happen though >:( Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Lord Nepenthean on June 13, 2004, 04:38:42 AM This is something I haven't even thought about doing in years. The last time it even crossed my mind was probably before I even owned a PS1. So, I haven't done it yet, either. Of course, I don't have enough friends, and especially not enough gamer friends, to do something like this with. Maybe at a gaming convention I'll get the chance to someday....
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Zimbacca on June 14, 2004, 01:44:51 PM i've never done it either.  i've never really seen a point in doing it.  never knew what does it does. does let you play a 2 player game where each person gets their own screen?  or what?
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Hydrobond on June 14, 2004, 06:51:11 PM Im pretty sure there was a soccer game that supported 16 players for PS1, but I may be wrong.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: drone8888 on July 03, 2004, 11:01:30 AM That's going overboard.
Just take it out to the field. Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: thx1138 on July 03, 2004, 03:07:39 PM Quote That's going overboard. Just take it out to the field. Post by: Izret101 on July 05, 2004, 02:32:50 AM ive never done it or seen it done but i know each player got there own tv and i think you needed 2 copies of the game and the special connector all in all i would say not worth it for 1 match of doom but if it was something you did alot go for it
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: danvx6 on July 05, 2004, 02:39:48 AM I dont think many people actually link 2 PS1s together. I would say that it isnt really worth it for any shooter unless you really hate peekers.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Izret101 on July 05, 2004, 03:07:50 AM that or you hate having to loose half the screen to aim on. which drastically effects aiming.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Arrrhalomynn on July 05, 2004, 03:12:25 AM I'd love to play some racing games on a pair of linked ps1's. You get all the fun of a multiplayer game with people in the same room, but non of the annoyances of having to share a tv and a ps1.
The only problem I can think of is the lack of space and the lack of 2 good quality tv's. Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 05, 2004, 04:07:25 AM You could always just go to a furniture store and take your PS1's with you, hook them up, and hope nobody cares. Maybe if you get some teenager employees, they'll join in on the gaming. And if ya get kicked out, it still makes for a good story to tell people later on.

linking on xbox is definitely a blast! Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Tynstar on February 08, 2006, 06:34:48 AM Quote can PS2 or gamecube be system linked? linking on xbox is definitely a blast! PS2 yes, I think I have a link cable for it anyways. :-/ Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: AndyC on February 08, 2006, 08:30:11 AM I think you can only link the old style PS2's as the slimline ones don't have the ports to plug the leads into.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Hydrobond on February 08, 2006, 11:31:23 AM Gamecubes can be linked if both of them have a network card and you connect them through a network cable. I think if you use a patch cable you don't even need a hub.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Tynstar on February 08, 2006, 01:07:10 PM Quote Gamecubes can be linked if both of them have a network card and you connect them through a network cable. I think if you use a patch cable you don't even need a hub. What games support that. I figured you could connect them his a crossover cable but I didnt know why you would want to. Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: m3talst0rm on February 09, 2006, 04:49:33 AM I think Mario Kart is the only game that supports linking two gamecubes together.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on February 09, 2006, 08:15:25 AM That seems hard to believe.
Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: m3talst0rm on February 09, 2006, 08:52:37 AM Quote That seems hard to believe. What does? That there is only one game to utilize the gamecube system link?  or that Mario Kart can use the system link?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Kart:_Double_Dash%21%21 Edit: Found Two More: Kirby's Air Ride and 1080:Avalanche http://www.dslreports.com/faq/9499 http://www.warppipe.com/ so 3 total...only off by two :P Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Hydrobond on February 09, 2006, 08:59:16 AM I own the network card for the game cube and have yet to use it. Shame on me for expecting Nintendo to make things that support their additional hardware.
The new mario kart sucked compared to the old ones. Sorry, just had to say it. Title: Re: I've never linked to PS1's together. Post by: Alabama-Shrimp on June 22, 2006, 04:56:15 PM Me and some friends used to link up PSX's to play C&C Red Alert back when PC's were far too expensive and slow.
Yep you need 2 PSX's and 2 tellys but its a 2 disk game so saved 40 quid or so! Was good much better to have your own screen and that. |
