Post by: phoenix1967 on August 28, 2008, 04:01:59 PM
For non-videogames, I recently picked up the following:

Ticket to Ride, the Card game.
Power Grid (board game).
Power Grid expansion (new deck of power plants to be played with the original game).

Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit ($3 from a goodwill store, great condition)

Not that great, since it was "Movie Trilogy Edition" so it isn't as accurate to actual Tolkien Legendarium.

@dot, Are you into any of the independant board game developers (i.e. Days of Wonder, Rio Grande Games, Mayfair, Twilight Creations, etc.)?

No, not yet. I've only just gotten back into boardgames after years of not playing them. I do, however have a couple that might be classified as indie.

A Knight Rider boardgame?...that actually sounds like it'd be pretty rare.

could be, I don't know. I've picked up quite a few like that over the years. Most are near complete and in playable shape.

a few others:

Battlestar Galactica, Starsky & Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard. The Mad Magazine Game, Spy vs Spy.

Grabbed a card game called Bang! a few weeks ago. Got the bullet edition with all the expansions and a few extra bonus cards. Really fun game with 4 or more people. kinda lame with just 3.

Sue gave me The Office trivia boardgame as an early Christmas present.

The board's layout and directions were a little confusing, but after awhile it was a pretty fun game if you've been following the series.

With just the 2 of us playing, it took about 30-45 minutes for a game.

I played a game recently called Loaded Questions. It has to be one of the most fun board games I have ever played.

Sounds like a fun party game.

@Sirgin: How many people were playing with you when you tried it out?

I got Blokus about a week ago. I looooove it.

Also got Stratego and Foodie Fight for Christmas. Haven't played either of them yet, but Stratego is a definite classic :)

It says it's for 2-4 players. So I was just curious. I can imagine it being pretty chaotic with more than 2 people. 8)

Stratego is definitely a classic. Gotta love having Miners to remove those bombs! Truly the original "Capture the flag" game. I wonder if the videogame makers that started putting in this mode were fans of Stratego? 8)

I think it's the most chaotic with 3 players. In that case, two players play the normal game but a third player is the "saboteur" that tries to prevent others from putting rivers to their borders. :P

With 4 players you basically play in teams of 2. You're not allowed to talk to each other though (I think...)
