Just wondering. What are some slangs used in your area?

Pop = soda

If I can think of any other's I'll post them.

TP'ing = the act of covering a house or area in front of a house with toilet paper

garage sale = a sale of unwanted items on your porch, in your yard, etc.

daddy long leg = the kind of spider (or spider-like creature) that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs

All of those are used East coast cept Pop but everyone knows that anyways.

Well, this isn't slang, but in Michigan everybody adds an s to the ends of words that don't need it.  For example;  "I'm going to Wallmarts to pick up some shit."

It is pretty annoying.

Really? I don't remember people doing that. I will have to pay attention closely next time I talk to my brother.

In Cincinnati:
Please? - means "I didn't understand what you said, could you repeat that."
Three way - a local chili dish
Four way - local chili dish with beans/onions
Five way - local chili dish with beans and onions

You know you are from Cincinnati if:
Your favorite convience store sounds like a local union (United Dairy Farmers).
You have had goetta.
You know Kentucky is in the south, Cleveland is in Canada, and Cincinnati is in the midwest.
You know that Graeter's is the best ice cream ever.
You know that Cleveland is the mistake on the lake, and will never go there.

I might know some of the Brit stuff but Dutch just has WAY to many letters.

Dutch has many letters because we stick words together. Video game would be videogame and inflatable crocodile becomes opblaaskrokodil.

A rough translation is blow up crocodile. If i read that in english i would think they were going to blow it up with explosives or something.

Also after reading the Pitsburgese site all it is just accents and dialects like if i went to Bahstun.(The way Bostonians say Boston)

I know they are the same but if you ask someone in Arizona to go play putt putt they get very confused. But if you say lets go play minature golf they understand.

Neither do I because it bugs the shit out of me, although I do sometimes slip and pronounce the s at the end of Illinois.

This is actually in Covington, but nobody here will know the difference except a few Cincinnatians.

Quid = Pound (£)
Cuppa = cup of tea
Chippy = fish & chip shop
Offy = off-license (maybe liqueur store for many of you)
Bevvy = Beer
Jar (of beer) = pint (of beer) - 'let's have a few jars'
Mobile = mobile (cell) phone
Telly = TV
Leccy = electricity
'Crash me a fag' = 'could you possibly give me one of your cigarettes, what what'
To 'Cane' something = do ANYTHING quickly or if something hurts.  For example, you might 'cane' it away from someone trying to kill you, 'cane' a bag of crisps or your leg might be 'caning'.
Copper/rozzer/filth/pig/etc. = Police
A 'mission' = if a particular situation would take a lot of effort to achieve
Langered/wasted/hammered/pissed/bladdered/bombed/wankered/etc. = drunk

I like how Cop and drunk have the most meanings. Quite diverse you englishmen.

You're wrong, there are some words like gumband that have nothing to do with accents.

@ Sureshot - bet you have one of them cute accents? There's a bunch of english stuff I've always wanted to know what it means... If I can remember I'll post and you can translate if you'd be so kind :)

A drinking fountain is known as a bubbler in Eastern Wisconsin

Double Double = Coffee w/ two cream, two sugar.  "Give me a double double"
Brew/suds = Beer "let's get some suds"
Touque ("Tuke") = winter hat that covers ears  "Put on your touque"
Balaklava = what robbers and skiiers wear
Wack = lots.  As in "That's a wack of cash!"
Interac = debit card
Zellers = Canadian Walmart (not quite as cheap-ass, but similar)
Loonie = One dollar coin
Twonie = Two dollar coin
Croisant = moon shaped breakfast pastry.  Not "crescent"!!
Parka = heavy, wooly winter coat
Mockasin = winter shoe/slipper
We don't use weak , poitically correct slang like "African Canadian" or "Native Canadian" (or American-Canadian) either.  Not all blacks are from Africa.  North American Indians are called Aboriginal,   Native, or Indian.
Pop = nobody calls it "soda" in Canada
Serviette = Napkin
Poutine = Fries covered with cheese curds and gravy
Pike - a type of fish
Robertson screwdriver = square-ended driver
Click = Kilometer.  "My house is 15 clicks from work"
Two-four = case of 24 beers (may also be pronounce 'two-fer')
Twenty-sixer = 26 ounce bottle of booze (aka twixer)
Mickey = 13 ounce bottle of booze
Eh? = stereotypically, what all Canadians say.  I usually say "Hey?" or "Huh?" myself - never "eh?"

It makes me laugh that I knew nearly all the british slang posted and nearly none of the canadian slang posted.

Which makes me think that I need to go pester my poor canadian step dad to fill me in a little more.

The food, booze, clothing, whack and click.

The most of the stuff i can think of are terms for areas.
The X - two major roads cross to form a X. It is a specific place not a general title
the Center - 16 Acres Center gets this name even there are many places with center in its name
the Beach - Actually Hampton Beach, New Hampshire
the Pit - A huge sand pit that use to be in woods but is now less than 50 feet off a street
the Dunes - Self explanitory spot where there are 20+ foot sand dunes also pulled out of seclusion
Gasoline Alley - Downtown along a long stretch of road populated by refineries and the such
Gasoline Corners - spot a few miles away that has a gas staion on each corner of the intersection
Bank-in-the-box - ATMs that are inside their own little buildings
The Cape - Cape Cod
The Hill -  Hungry Hill use to be all Irish now mostly Spanish
The Club -  The Italian-American Club basically a membership bar.
The Packy - any of various Package(Liquor) stores "I'm goin to the packy you want anything? "

Some slang
"Playing videos" - some people leave the "games" off but that seems to be mostly older people
"Dice?" - "lets play craps?" that is only among school kids due to detentions for gambling
"Chillax" - i heard a girl use it 5ish years ago now i hear it alot. it is  "chill out" and "relax" combined
"Cop" - to steal and more recently to steal. probably well known now due to rappers.
"Cop me a bogey" -"lend me a cigarett"
Shopping Carrige(sp?) and Shopping Cart are different from region to region as well according to a texan i met.

Fiver = Five Pounds
Tenner = Ten Pounds
Grub/Nosh/Scran (in some areas) = Food
Mental = something being crazy or overwhelming in some proportion - 'that car looks mental'
Battered/Decked = beaten up
Ace = good - 'that's ace!'
Dodgy = messed up in some way or a shifty character

i dont know how widespread this one is, but
sick = cool/awesome - That's sick! = That's awesome, That's so cool!
my younger sister says one that i've never heard myself
bad = cool/awesome (as above)

Twomp - A twenty dollar bill
Half a twomp - ten dollars

Don't know how widespread those are, but I say them all the time.

Boss= awesome or badass.
