Title: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 04, 2005, 04:47:58 AM I get to borrow my brother's electrical guitar for a few weeks, so I want to learn how to play some simple songs. I tried some ramones songs, but the guitaring isn't that interesting without a band to back it up and it's very fast. Faster than I can play for at least a few weeks.
That's why I'm looking for some fun, good, easy to play guitar songs. Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Zimbacca on January 04, 2005, 07:02:27 AM Hummm... too bad it's not bass. Bass is easy; I was able to teach myself to play Tank (the cowboy bebop theme) in about ten minutes. Anyway, if you can read tabs, check out www.mxtabs.net
Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Sauza12 on January 04, 2005, 07:32:36 AM Any Green Day or Offspring song is pretty easy to learn. Same with Blink 182 or most other punk-pop bands like that. The only thing that you have to know is how to play a power chord.
Megadeth Symphony of Destruction is VERY easy to play. Poison Every Rose has it's Thorn and Talk Dirty to me are two songs that I learned the first time I tried to play them. The rythym parts to Metallica One are also pretty easy. The lead parts are a little harder, but not much. Of course all of these songs are easy to play until you get to the solos. after that they get pretty hard. Except for Poison. I think CC Deville was retarded. Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 04, 2005, 12:18:03 PM The problem with Green Day is the same as with the Ramones; The guitaring is mostly just a bunch of chord switching without a real melody or something that keeps it going on it's own.
I found out this evening that Hand of Doom by Black Sabbath could be pretty good. Relatively easy to play and some great riffs. That's what I'm looking for. Not 3 chords that are switched every now and then throughout the song. Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Sauza12 on January 05, 2005, 08:06:07 AM Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of the easiest song to play EVER.....Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath.  It's three notes through the entire verse and thre chords during the chorus.
-3--4--5- Those are the three notes played on the lowest three strings.  Play 3, 5, and then 4.  That's the verse. Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 05, 2005, 08:29:46 AM Yeah, but that's no fun to play ;). I'm looking for something that is somewhat fun to play and sounds good too. The same 3 notes over and over again isn't very entertaining.
Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Lord Nepenthean on January 05, 2005, 11:52:43 AM I don't know a thing about playing guitar, but "Sweet Home Alabama" is by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 05, 2005, 12:03:43 PM Quote Sweet Home Alabama. I don't remember who buy.And i don't know how easy it is but it can't be that hard... can it? You are a great help, really you are. I see those many years of playing guitar really made you the expert in telling me what would be a good guitar song to play. THANKS! Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 05, 2005, 12:29:09 PM Ah, now you suddenly know. In the last post you were still thinking it might be easy, because it couldn't be hard.
Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Lord Nepenthean on January 05, 2005, 12:37:19 PM You should play some of Al Di Meola's music. It's so easy that my grandma can play it while skydiving and cooking a Thanksgiving turkey at the same time. With her hands tied behind her back.

I was asking a friend of mine for some info he gave me these sites. www.guitartabs.cc www.ultimate-guitar.com www.olga.com Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: Sauza12 on January 06, 2005, 06:44:17 AM Well, I don't know how easy they are as I've played these songs so much that they are ingrained into my hand muscles, but I like playing;
Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit (This one is actually very easy and it's fun to just crank this out every now and then) Tesla - Love Song (the intro only. It gets dull after that) Rush - La Villa Strangiato (sp?) Megadeth - Silent Scorn (This one is actually pretty easy. If you have someone on acoustic and someone on electric, it sounds unbelivable.) Dokken - Alone Again Shinedown - .45 The big problem with most songs that are easy to play is that they were written so that the other instruments would help flesh out the sound of the song making it so that no individual part will sound quite the same without the other instruments. Of those songs that I've l;isted here, they are either straight instrumentals (La Villa Strangiato and Silent Scorn) or the guitar parts from the songs are instantly recognizable and are the backbone of the song. Also, Izret is right about checking out tabs. When I was first starting out, I would just wander around tab sites trying to find anything that I wanted to play and learning it. It really is the best way to learn if you aren't taking lessons. @Nep :laugh: Title: Re: Easy to play guitar songs Post by: shadytool on January 07, 2005, 01:59:31 PM i ont know if you like (or can even stand) the darkness, but here is a link to "i believe in a thing called love".
http://www.guitartabs.cc/fetchfile.php?fileid=7309338 its mainly power cords, which are fun and easy, along with some simple fingering inbetween. the main riff, verse, chorus should be no problem. the solo is something that i am starting to work on myself. hope its helpful. |
