RF Generation Message Board

So last night we were playing this team who happens to have a woman on it , and we only had 5 players show up for the game. In roller hockey this would only leave one player on the bench for a change >:(
(tynstar needs to come out of retirement and play again)

I have been playing roller hockey for around 12 years now and have never had a woman ever score a goal on me. I have played against plenty and not a single goal ...... Until last night :'( Not that I dont consider women bad hockey players or anything like that , but its a streak I was kind of hoping to keep.

It happened like this ..... The other teams best player was the only guy doing any scoring on me and they were up 4 - 2 with 5 minutes left. My team was down on the other end when they turned over the puck , only one of my defensemen made it back on defense (the other guys were too tired from playing the whole game)

The other teams best plaer had the puck and I was set to make the save when out of the blue he passes the puck to the female player right at the side of the net for a "one timer". 2 things  happened on that play that I wasnt expecting..... For one he passed (I thought for sure he would take it upon himself to score and put the game out of reach.) And secondly she connected with a wicked wrister that went top shelf :'( If the puck went low I would have made the save because I went into a butterfly. But I just couldnt make it fast enough....

Anyhow , thats my story from the world of hockey. I thought all of you hockey fans out there (hears crickets chirping) would like a hockey story since the NHL isnt playing :P

I normally play defense, but a couple of weeks ago I played goalie because we had gear but no one wanted to put it on, so I played goal.

Unfortunatley, I'm not use to moving with all of that extra gear on and almost passed out cause I got to hot.  I have a new found respect for goalies the world over now.

and as for butterfly, well it's a goaltending style, but I'm not sure on all the details, so I'll leave it at that.

That reminds me of this one summer I was playing roller hockey and the place I was playing was hot ! I was actually there that day doing some practice with some friends (I used to be such a rink rat)

Anyhow , I was on the practice rink and there was like 15 people shooting at me.... I actually passed out from heat stress. 2 of my buddies got me some water and helped me off the rink :-[

This other time I played 3 games in a row because the other teams goalies werent showing up and I got really sick because of the dehydration. When I filled up on water and drove home I puked out every bit of water I drank all over the driveway.

They give us goalies bad names because the spelling is so close :D

I could prolly score on you, I played street and some deck for years. It was a blast cause the band of misfits from my hood would play these pretty boys that were on "real" teams and mess em up good. Most of those guys were kinda small and I think the idea of a scary lookin bitch flyin at em made em piss themselves.

Not if i was playing D. You won't get a good shot off.

I haven't played hockey in at least 6 years. I wasn't bad though, backyard stuff though not on a team so i didn't really know how to play. I bet i couldn't nearly as well as i used to now.

No. I have really good balance. Plus if i fall I would have to get my fat ass up and I don't want to do that.

I bet you'd get out of the way real quick if I was aiming for your nuts...lol I too have good balance and I skate well. I think it's safe to say if an RF Gen meet happens people will be bringing hockey sticks...hehe

I have a cup and always block that area with my hands as well.

yeah yeah, we know it's not "blocking" you're doing when your hands are in that area.

I can't skate worth a lick. I do play floor hockey every week though.

LAzy yes but thats not why I don't play. It wasn't fun anymore.

Had a team practice last night at a new roller hockey rink in town and tynstar practiced with us for the first time in almost 2 years  :o

In the team scrimmage , he was the only offensive player to score a goal on me..... In fact he scored 3  :-/
It was good to see him out there skating again and he didnt do to shabby considering we were out there for an hour and he didnt die.  :laugh:

I was close to death afterwards. And yes I scored 3 goals on him. It was still just as easy as it was 2 years ago. I might be slower but I can still maneuver and shoot.

ah yes my shot of choice. though I do seem to get most of my goals tapping in rebounds.

I did score on a nice wrister, top corner over the goalies stick side shoulder.

Since you get a lot of rebound goals we will call you Holmstrom. And I will be Yzerman.  |D

Had fun at "drop in" hockey last night.

Been practicing twice a week since we are in-between seasons currently , but last night at drop in hockey there was a kid that was probably 10 or 11 and he made some adults look stupid. This kid had some major moves and even scored on the other goalie a few times :o

Well thats why the kid was doing so well... Nobody went near him because they did not want to hurt him. In a full contact game he wouldnt survive.

I used to play hockey with a kid who was no older than 13.  He was damn good, but one day he tried to play the body on me.  Let sjust say, he never did it again.

Just finished this past seasons regular season and we had a record of 6-4. Not bad consideringg we handed the second best team in the league a 12-3 loss last night.

Winning our last 2 games against the top team teams in the league has really motivated us for the play-offs :)

Well , the season is over. We played our play-off game last night and lost. It was 4 - 4 and went to overtime. Then it eneded in a tie and we moved to a shoot - out.

I really wasnt on my game yesterday and I allowed them to score while we did not score in the shoot - out.  :'(

Needless to say I am bummed and blame myself for the loss.  >:(

116?  Jesus!!!  How the hell did you survive????  A few months ago I played goalie with some friends inside of an air conditioned "arena" and after 20 minutes I had a heat stroke.  The worst part about that was hearing all the shit talking later from my friends after it was determined that I didn't fry any brain cells.

"Hey fat boy, put down the hot dog and take a lap so you don't pass out next time"
"Leave me alone!  I'll take my ball home and tell my mom on you!"

It was inside but it is still F'ing hot.

I passed out once because of the heat. It was like 4 or 5 years ago and I was out there for open shooting. I had like 20 kids and a few of my friends shooting on me and after like a half hour of taking non stop shots I passed out  :-[ And thats when I was in pretty good shape.
