Title: Fantasy Football 2014
Post by: bickman2k on July 06, 2014, 09:18:05 AM
Yes, it's July, but I'm starting early this year!

Sign-up emails have been sent to everyone who participated last year.

Did everyone like having 12 teams? Do we need more/less?

l liked having 12 as the max.  I think we need to put in a FLEX position though.  I never had more than two decent starting receivers last year and it burned me.

I'd also like to do a live draft, so I don't get stuck with players who are on IR for half the season.

I thought 12 was great.

A live draft would be great if everyone is going to be seriously participating.  There's nothing worse than scheduling a live draft with 12 teams only to have only like half the people show up.

Just about everyone in the league last year kept up with their teams during the entire season, hopefully everyone will be just as involved this year.

I joined in. :)

I'm having a look through the league settings and there's still no FLEX position. Can this still be changed before the start of the season?

EDIT: BTW, there's 14 team spots right now, should that be lowered then?

I'm in. I've gotten 2nd two years in a row -_-. This is my year.

If there is a consensus for a flex position, I can make that change.

There are 14 team spots, but I have only sent invitations to the people who played last year as of right now.

I'll have to search for my email - don't remember seeing it.

If there is a consensus for a flex position, I can make that change.

Well, it's been asked for these past couple of years at least, so I think there is demand for it. Most people end up with too many RB's or too many WR's, so having the single flex position should fix most of that.

+1 for FLEX

Agreed, add a flex spot. I'm back signed up as well

Hey here's a thing I hate about Yahoo leagues: Waivers default to a "continuous rolling list", where those who make fewer claims get higher priority. Could we change it to either of the other options, where teams with crappier records get higher priority?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2014
Post by: blcklblskt on July 30, 2014, 02:09:55 PM
^I tried to figure out why I tended to end up way down the list on the waiver last season, and now I know.  I like theGrue's suggestion to give crappier teams higher priority.

So when is the draft?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2014
Post by: blcklblskt on August 15, 2014, 01:48:23 PM
^Can we schedule it sometime during the week of 08/24?  I have off that week, and I'd like to be able to draft my own players this year.  Also, can we get a consensus on the FLEX position?  Judging from the posts so far, it looks like the following people want the FLEX:

-blcklblskt
-monkees19
-Sirgin
-Shadow Kisuragi

Still waiting on 3 from last year. May give them until mid week before I open it up to other players. Anyone want to get on a list?

I can make the flex change as it only appears that there is positive leaning on it.

EDIT: I have removed a bench position to add a wide receiver/running back flex position. Feel that's fair. Thoughts?

^That's fine with me.  Can we set up a draft day?

I'm not going to take part this year, in case it wasn't obvious by not signing up/in.  Handling a Yahoo and NFL.com leagues last year was too time consuming.

There's a lot going on in my life right now - a friend staying with me ended up in the ICU last night. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to dedicate this year, but things may change...

When's the cutoff?

I'm going to call it next Thursday I guess before we draft. Give us a week to get our teams set. I have a guy at work who is new on RFG that wants to join up. It would give us 10 teams now with 2 from last year to join in if they want since Techie is out.

Thoughts? Need to make it sooner?

Does everyone want a live draft or an autodraft?

I still want to play.  Do I need to be invited again?

^ Situation has settled for me as well, so I have time. If still open, LMK.

We have 2 slots now. With you two and a new member that I invited, we're back to the number we had last year. I'm going to schedule a live draft for Monday night if everyone can make it. Give you guys some time to look over some things and I should be free to be there Monday night for a live draft.

EDIT: Sent invites to ShadowK and RetroRage

EDIT 2: I think we're odd again! Need one more player!

Draft Monday. Still need one player though. Can't draft with an odd number of teams.

EDIT: And we're go for Monday!

I won't be able to make the live draft, I'll be at work. No way I'm swinging that one. No big though, will still be fun.

Just read that Welker got suspended for four games for PEDs.  Never saw that coming.

I had an average draft but didn't expect anything else considering I've never made the live draft.

Looking to trade for some RB, have a few WR to trade.

I have Sproles I wouldn't mind offloading, but I'm having a RB situation myself with Andre Ellington.

Are you in any other leagues besides this one?

Not this year, no. Seems like everyone got a decent draft this year, but I can't find any high average players to save my skin. As usual, injuries will define this season.

12 teams with 3 starting WRs and no PPR is pretty tough, but I think there's still value out there on the waiver. I've got so many claims in, it's gonna be like Christmas tomorrow morning!

Anyone want to trade an RB2 for a WR2? I'm overloaded with RBs...
Picked up Niles Paul for a TE replacement. Woo!

So, I had DEF left to play last week and 1 point to earn to beat Seamar...and I LOST.
This week, I forgot to set my players, and I have 40+ points sitting on the bench. You win this one, Sirgin...

This disgusts me. I'm last, and with my Points For, I should be 5th - yet, my Points Against is the highest in the league.

Another fantastic showing this week, and another fantastic loss. I think I've lost to the #1 point earner of the week for the past 3? 4? weeks. 125 points, and I lose by 22...

Who was that who had the most point this week even though they had a guy get zero?

That's right...this guy!

Who's out of the playoffs, and yet scores higher than most?
This guy.

I had a terrible, terrible fantasy year, yet was in the Top 5 for Points Scored most of the year.  >:(

EDIT: Just looked at the results for the Quarterfinals. Definitely would not have predicted that.

Had a good year, but Manning decided to decline when I needed him most. And Jimmy Graham too. Sigh.  I picked up Manziel just for the hell of it and am going to bench Manning's sorry ass.

Good luck to everyone still alive!

Pretty good for Yahoo predicting me to come in last place at the beginning of the season.
