Need a lift? Or you planning on a safe trip this time?

can't wait guys. I signed up for a booth again this year expect in the Artist Alley. I mainly had custom stuff so didn't want to spend the extra $$ on the regular booth.

Let me know if anyone needs to be picked up.

Are we doing a sleepover thing again this year?

If you're coming down, I could certainly use a ride. Maybe I'll be in early enough we don't nearly hit drifter on the side of the road this time.

Let me know specific times ASAP
My new job isn't "flexible" with hours like my old one. I will likely have to take the friday off work assuming i have been there long enough to earn it off... Still not exactly sure how that works...
Should have no trouble getting someone to cover sat/sun at the bar though.

Found out about last year's RWX a week after it happened. Hell would have to freeze over for me to miss it this year.

My Experience Summarized

Had a great time! I probably would not have known about this if not for RFGen.

It was nice to put some faces to the names here. I met Bickman and Duke, who were very cool. I'm pretty sure I recognized a few others, but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to say hi to everyone. There was a third who sat next to Bickman and Duke later in the event and I didn't catch the name, so if anyone can fill me in...

I started out fast and furious, spending $90 within the first 5 minutes, but then kept it reasonable afterwards. My haul for Saturday included an arcade stick for Xbox360 (my 2nd stick for an arcade cabinet I'm working on), an N64 console (plus a free Diddy Kong Racing courtesy of Bickman, thanks!), Young Merlin (the best game made by Virgin imo), and a slew of random $5-$15 NES games that I've been missing for too long.

The thing I most regret not buying? Casino Kid 2. I'm a huge fan of Casino Kid and have never played the sequel. Bad move by me. The price was right too.

But aside from spending money, it was fun to just walk around. The building and atmosphere was fantastic. It wasn't too crowded, everything was laid out nicely, the lighting was sufficient, and as far as I can tell, almost everyone used deodorant that day! I felt a little bad for the people upstairs. I feel like they hardly got any traffic and it was pretty dark up there.

I participated in 2 tournaments; Mortal Kombat II and Super Street Fighter 2, both on SNES consoles. I'm surprised that they choose SSF2 over Street Fighter 2 Turbo, since SSF2 is considered to be the lesser game, but no big deal.
I finished 3rd out of 9 people in MKII, which was good because I have no idea what I'm doing in that game.
Here's a short video of me, on the right in the black hat, losing in the semi-finals to the eventual winner
https://www.instagram.com/p/BLnCy-Jje6_/

I finished 3rd out of about 20 people in SSF2. I should've won that! No good video here, too many heads in the way of my friend and cameraman.

The arcade was very fun. I bounced in and out of there several times. I was praying there was a Mr. Do cocktail table, but other than that, it was great. The pinball machines had people constantly playing on them at all times. Street Fighter II (which was really a miss-labeled Champion Edition cab) was the other notable machine that had a constant line.

Unfortunately, I had to cut my evening short to catch the 8pm New London/Orient Point ferry, so I missed the auction and karaoke. Shame, I was looking forward to the karaoke too. Did anyone from RFGen show-off their pipes?

Overall, everything was amazing and I am definitely going back next year!

Random bonus material - During a trip to my car for a little break, I met a guy who locked his keys in his car. Ultimately, there was no way to help him. He had to smash the window. Don't see that everyday.

Smash window, or call a locksmith... Smash window. Yeah, don't see that every day.

He was pretty hellbent on smashing it with a brick. I told him to smash his rear door window. If I wasn't there, he would've smashed his drivers side window. It would've been a very chilly and windy drive home for him.

I'm not a picture taker, but I should've taken more. This is the gist of the floor. The arcade was in it's own room to the right. If you look towards the top left, you will see an XFINITY sign. Just below it to the right is the RF Gen banner. The whole thing looks a little small from the picture, but this pic is only about 75% of the floor (minus the arcade), plus it feels a lot bigger when you're on the floor and not standing on the stairs.

Look at that ceiling, very nice.

Hey there! This is my first post, but I figured this would be a good place to start. This was my first year at RWX. I moved to NH this year, so it was within driving distance and a couple hours closer than the upcoming RetroGameCon in Syracuse. The event was just the right size of attendees and vendors, in my opinion. I went to TooManyGames last year, and that felt a little too large for a collector's convention. Hoping that this doesn't get larger as the years go on.

Like some others, I blew through my budget pretty quickly. I was originally hoping to find a PC Engine Duo, but didn't see anyone with import PCE systems. Found a lot of great handhelds I was looking for, like the Tommy Hilfiger CGB and the Mirinda CGB from the auction.

Speaking of the auction, I went into it thinking it may be like what I heard about last year from the podcast. A lot of the non-arcade items went for a lot more than what I figured they'd go for. The NES/SNES/GB lighted sign, which I thought I would bid on, went for $850 and the black box games went for more than I was expecting.

Joe Granato, from The New 8 Bit Heroes, showed off an amazing application soon to be released that provides a GUI for making NES games. I'd watch out for its release soon. He's estimating that the software and a cart flasher kit with cart from infinite NES lives will run $65, which is a steal when it comes to a game dev kit.

Welcome to RFG shane! I did see a Duo on the floor in one of the booths, and I think it was the one next to our booth that also had the boxed TurboExpress. I didn't check though, so it could have been a US Duo. There was a booth across from us that was selling a PCE Core Grafx. You made out really well on the Mirinda GBC by the way. Excellent price.

I did see someone with both a loose and boxed US Turbo Duo, and did see the Core Grafx. The loose one was 500, which I thought was a bit too much considering it was not recapped. I may have to contact Windy Gaming and see if he'll still take a recap commission.

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm figuring out a way to display my handheld collection at our new house at the moment, and once that's done I'm hoping to post some images of the collection.

What's a good price on the Hilfiger one? A local place has one.

Depends on condition and if it's loose or complete. Loose but shell is excellent you're looking at around $100-120 in a store. CIB is all over the place, but seems to be just as common considering these were sold to employees and adults are more likely to retain the box. Anywhere between $200 and $350 CIB.
