Awesome shout out to Prima and guides in general. Obviously it was a long time coming, but it's still sad for me. I've got a collection of around 350 Guides and I just love to pull one out every once and a while and thumb through it even when I'm not playing the game.

Sorry I was too slow to get my favorite Dystopian media mentioned, but I just wanted to remind you guys to check out the movie Equilibrium. You wont be disappointed.

And Shawn hasn't seen the timeless Schwarzenegger classic Junior?!?!? For shame!! Running Man and Akira rule!

Man that Ayn Rand conversation. I'm gonna have to listen to it a second time after I'm done the episode. So much to dissect there. Having never read any of her stuff I think I may have had a caricature of her in my mind. Gonna have to dig into that a bit more than I ever have.

I put a portion of the Johnny Carson interview at the end. Be sure to listen to that.

Oh man, that would have been good!  Missed opportunity for sure.

Played though this game twice now and never put the ADAM and EVE thing together. Feeling a little dense about that, lol.

Also never noticed the chain tattoo link to Rapture that you guys pointed out.

Still have some questions that weren't answered in the playthrough thread or the podcast I was wondering if either of you could shed some light on. I'll repost them here:

Why did it have to be little girls gather the ADAM? Tennenbaum mentioned in a log I found that she understood why it had to be, but I must have missed the one that explained it to the player.

Why did at no time during this game did the player speak? Did they ever explain why you are a mute?

How does everyone who is on the radio with you know exactly where you are and what you are doing at all times? Ryan, Fontaine, Tennenbaum, Cohen all would speak to you as certain actions unfolded like they had just witnessed what you had done.

Why wouldn't you ever turn off your radio especially after learning about the psychological conditioning?

Did they dive into how the magic potion heals your physiological condition? That seemed a bit far fetched even in the reality they had constructed for this game. Just seemed like a lazy out so they could have you face Fontaine in a head to head fight.

I still don't get how the Vita-Chambers fit in/function. What did I miss there?

If we're thinking about the same audio log, I think Tenenbaum said that she understood why it had to be children and that she didn't understand why it had to be girls. To my knowledge, I don't think the game ever says why it had to be girls.

Check out this video and skip to 58:55

Also, I think there were a couple of audio logs from Suchong that talk about the Vita chambers, but I don't remember the specifics.

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the Vita Chambers are tied to Andrew Ryan's DNA, of which you share so you can use them as well.

Do all your clothes and equipment also share DNA with Ryan or is that just a video game thing I need to ignore?

Are you trolling, my dude?

Not trolling. Honestly trying to understand some of the stuff that didn't make sense to me during my plays. Is there any significance to the placements of the Vita Chambers and are they only usable for Ryan? If so wouldn't they have been vandalized beyond repair unless very well hidden? Can other people also use Vita Chambers too?

Mega-Man can use the Vita Chambers. Dr. Light infused a minuscule amount of Ryan's DNA into his firmware.

It's all coming together at last!!! The upgrade Capsules I'm Mega Man X look suspiciously like Vita Chambers.....

Really enjoyed this episode of the playcast, guys.

I like the Bioshock games, definitely some of the most aesthetically pleasing first person shooters I've seen.

I really agreed with the point about the reward for harvesting little sisters not being big enough, though I think it's an issue most games have. I think most players tend towards being good... maybe chaotic, but not evil. So the 'bad' actions need to be much more rewarding than the 'good' ones in order to be tempting.

Was glad to hear you included a bit on what you thought the game was saying about Rand and objectivism near the end. I found that since you have to be altruistic in order to get to the good ending, and how this pure, objectivist society quickly fell to chaos and ruin it was being critical of it. However... then Bioshock 2 came long and seemed to share the position that altruism is also bad. Then Infinite came with it's 'both sides (oppressors and oppressed) are bad' rhetoric. That's when I stopped trying to find political or philosophical opinions from the Bioshock series and just enjoyed shooting bees at people.

Thanks for listening to the show Pam and we are so glad that you liked it.  This quote made me spit coffee on my keyboard at work!  :D
