Title: OPERATION: RESET. - help rebuild a collection
Post by: douglie007 on October 02, 2019, 06:24:10 AM
A fellow collector lost everything in a fire. See full story here. https://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=19195.0.  I know I have a lot of doubles I can help on the Sega side, and I assume everyone here has a bin of doubles they could help out him out with.   So I created this post for those who can help out and donate.   We can have a tally at the top for what he has and what has been offered so there are no doubles, just goodness.

Thanks everyone in advance!

Ok so it's not the same games you had before, but it will get you over the count of games.  I have a Genesis model 2 I'm getting ready for you also. And some atari games.  I might need to ask for help with shipping just because money is tight.

I have a box of extra games that I'd be willing to help out with.  Doug, can you get in touch with Lee to find out what systems he still has?  I recall he made it out of the house with his Switch, but beyond that I am not sure.

I asked him to post what he was able to save in this post so before we send any I want to see what he was able to save.

Good idea. I have a couple Atari variants I could probably give, as well as possibly some NES variant dupes, and possibly some PS2 and Xbox stuff. The only working duplicate console I have to give right now is an Xbox, and I'd have to verify that, but that could be a possibility.

Hey all.

I was only able to rescue my 3DS and Switch, and all their games, because they're all stored together for portability. (All my 3DS/DS games I carry in an old GBA backpack I picked up at a Goodwill awhile back.)

Literally everything else was reduced to ashes, completely unsalvageable.

I should have some stuff to donate to the cause. I'll go through my things this weekend.

Is insurance going to help with some of the replacement? Also are you good with the Genesis games I found for you?

I'll take a look, I think I have a few N64s. Let me make sure I got everything for them.  Maybe even a few dupe carts.  Did you collect boxes and manuals too or just carts?

A little of both, tbh. A lot of my collection were complete, but just as many were cart only.
I'm already planning to eventually start trolling Ebay to replace all my 3DS and Switch game cases, but it'll be a while yet before that starts.

Well, most of my DS collection was cart only, but I did have the case for Magical Starsign, and both case and manual for Radiant Historia.
If you have extra cases for the DS Dragon Quest games, though, I could certainly use them. I have DQ 4, 5, 6, and 9 for the DS.

Yes, I do. I saved my entire 3DS/DS game cart collection because I keep them stored together in a backpack.

Hey now!

Here's what I've dug up so far for Mr. Jones' consideration... which isn't all that much, I'm ashamed to admit:

This version of Uncharted 2 is a cardboard-sleeved pack-in edition. And who can resist a Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt NES cartridge?  ;D

Although this SNES and one controller are somewhat yellowed-- and can use a bit of a clean-up-- I recently tested it out and it works like a charm. Only thing is, I'm not sure if I have a spare AC adapter or AV cable to go with it. But if I happen to dig some up, I'll  be more than happy to throw 'em in.

I also have a case, manual, and inserts for Super Mario Galaxy 2... but no game disc  :(.

So, whattaya think?

Heavens, I'd be happy with that SNES alone! No worries about a cable, I'm sure I could find some on Ebay.

Once again, I'm overwhelmed by yall's kindness. Thanks so much.

Here's my stack of NES dupes I've had sitting around for a while. The conditions will vary and they're all untested, but they're yours if you want them. I'm not sure if the bootleg '150 in 1' cartridge is something you're interested in, but it may be nice to have if you just want to play some games.

*Sorry, I just, I couldn't leave that alone.  Sorry, sorry, I'm a dad, dad jokes automatically and horrifically spawn in my head.

Um, back to the point, I'm looking at sending some Gen and Atari stuff, and I think I have a spare A2600 not in the repair table stuff.  I also have a spare SNES, NES, PlayStation, and Genesis I don't mind shipping if someone would rather save theirs.  Can we get a compiled list of all the current contributions? That would make this much much easier.

Alright, I modified the initial post and put down all of the stuff people have offered up.  If there are any dupes, talk amongst yourselves and work it out. Good stuff guys! :)

Hey Lee, the N64 came in today. It does not have the RCA cable, but luckily I have a 3rd party spare that I'm throwing in along with some rumble packs and a 2nd controller. I am also going to throw in a gray brick OG gameboy for you. Also have some extra 2600 paddles if you need them and maybe a few other system controllers. Just let me know which consoles you now have or you are getting. Your shirt has been ordered, so when it gets here, I'll send it all at one time. Please send me your address in a PM. Thanks

Hey guys, I believe I have some extra games as well I can throw in. I've been going through my sale boxes and I believe I have a few things I could probably send your way. I know I'm sure it's the last thing on your mind, but do you have a somewhat updated list that I could scope out so I'm not sending you doubles as well?

I would also like to second that I'm extremely proud of this group for stepping up and helping out a member in need. It's actions like this that make me extremely happy to be here.

My RFGeneration list is mostly up to date. Thanks so much.

Sorry it's been so long. Life has been pretty busy, but with the whole Coronavirus lock-down I've got ample time to photograph my room.

Apparently I can only add one photo per post. So this'll get long.

It won't let me add anymore pictures. Your site must be broken or something.

I've got 4 or 5 more photos.

You might check your file sizes. Says a max of 4 per post, max of 3.5MB

This is what it says: "The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator."

The file is far below 3.5MB.
I have no idea what an "Upload Folder" is.

I would be looking to buy DVD of Gears 5 and God of War adding them to my list of available DVD collections.
