Awesome. This is another one of those games I’ve been wanting to play. I guess I’ll have to pick a copy up now!

I'll probably have too much going on in November to swing a replay of this, but I just wanted to say that this is a great game and would encourage anyone that is on the fence to go ahead and check this one out. I'm looking forward to the discussions on this one.

Nice. I started this a couple months ago and got a few hours in, but fell off it for some reason (not sure why, I quite liked it). This will be a good reason to finish.

I picked this up on sale a few weeks back on the Switch. Might be a good excuse to finally play this.

This has been high on my want list. Great reason to grab it sooner rather than later. So excited for this one.

Meijer has it for 19.99 and I think amazon had it for around that price too

I had to look up Meijer. I don't think that's a thing up here in Canada. And Hellblade is twice that on amazon.ca!! I've got a couple weeks to keep hunting though so I'll keep my eyes open.

I picked up my copy yesterday. I might start it a little early just to make sure I have enough time to beat it.

So I played for about 30mins today and so far I think it’s pretty good. The combat took a little getting used to, but it’s nothing to major. If I can make one recommendation (the game also recommends this)it is that you need to wear headphones while playing this game to truly experience all that this game has to offer.

Agree 100%. If you're the "nah, don't tell me what to do, game!" type of person, please reconsider and use headphones. They are critical to getting the most out of what the developers were trying to convey.

I think Microsoft saw we are playing this, and added it to the game pass

It's been on there at least since around E3 when I subscribed. That's what put the game on my radar. But yeah, good way to play it for free this month if you are a subscriber.

I started the game yesterday. So far I like the story but the walk, fight and open door puzzle, rinse repeat. Style is kind of repetitive. I hope it gets a little more game play as I get further into it, but right now not thrilled with the game play.

Well, I hate to tell you this...

I was not a huge fan of the puzzles but I loved the combat. It seems like a lot of people like one and not the other. The good thing is the game is pretty short and does introduce new minor gameplay elements as you go along.

Honestly I don't really consider "find the Rune(s) to unlock the door" a puzzle, I think its more in line with forced exploration. This wouldn't be too bad if there was more to find instead of just the shrine's you can focus on to hear stories from your dead lover. The combat is okay, however I absolutely hate the shield enemies, as they are currently the bane of my existence.

For the shield guys, have you tried doing the melee attack? It momentarily knocks them back and leaves them open for a sword attack. Even with that they can be a pain.

I have not tried that. I’ve been dodging to the left/right and taking a swipe at them. They just seem too resilient.

Digital version is still full price. More than I'd like to spend unfortunately.

I got back to the game yesterday, I just finished the 4 trials. I have very mixed feelings about Hellblade. It looks and sounds fantastic. The voices in Senua's head are so well done and playing it with headphones is great... however, I wear headphones all day at work, when I'm walking outside, when I'm commuting, at my computer. The last thing I want to do is put on headphones when I'm relaxing and playing a game on the couch or in bed. That's the biggest reason I put the game down for months. Without the headphone experience everything's a little less good.

I really like the combat. I generally don't enjoy very deliberate, parry based combat but for some reason it works for me here. But again, the full sound experience is really needed to know where attacks are coming from.

The puzzles are initially interesting. I like the idea of perspective puzzles, but they all seem to overstay their welcome. My interest in doing the puzzles wanes the further I go into the game.

Hey everyone! As we roll into the holiday season I hope that everyone who wants to finish this game has time to do so. Rich and I have not set a recording date as of yet, but make sure to leave some final thoughts here if you wish and we'll read them on the show. Technically the end checkpoint is next week but I think everyone is either done or has given up.

I liked the game a lot but it was definitely a case of wanting to get through the story and dealing with the mechanics (I, like Pam, got worn out on the glyph puzzles pretty quickly, though I did like the combat a lot).

I really need to finish this, because I want to see how the story unfolds: I’m going to make it a point to play these next few nights getting this done.

This month has been so busy.. still not played much... I played it and it crashed in the video after the fire demon, and I had to reload.. I've put it down and walked away.

That stinks, Doug. I'm sorry that happened!

After setting aside a few hours to play and catch up, I have defeated the beast Fenrir. I'm really glad I came back to this as the story really started to ramp up after unlocking the bridge to Helheim. I plan to finish the game in the next day or two and will give my full thoughts on it then.

I started the game the other night, ended up playing for a few hours, and the game glitched out on me. For whatever reason, I couldn't see the runes and use the focus. Tried reseting the game and my console, but nothing worked...  I ended up having to start over, but with the knowledge I already had, I was able to get back to where I was (before the Raven boss) in about 30 minutes.  All in all, not too bad, but it does concern me that this may happen again. I've always enjoyed auto-save features, but I would be nice if they had some sort of manual save to go along with it.  Oh well....

Anyway, I am currently trudging through the bloodsoaked rivers Helheim and fighting my way to god knows what.  I am enjoying the game, the main story is captivating and I even find that the Norse mythology that you pick up along the way is really interesting and nicely interwoven into the main story. As a result, I typically search out all of the story runes, which I often don't find myself doing in other games.  I'm playing this one with headphones and boy does it make a difference in terms of atmosphere and adding to the psychological mindset of the character. They really did an amazing job here.

Overall, I do really like the combat, though probably like many of you, I wish there was more of it at times.  I feel like I don't get a lot of practice in improving my skills and even at the first boss, I felt that I was at a disadvantage.  More enemies and possibly a tutorial would have been a nice addition.

Graphically, the game is beautiful and other than the infrequent, but present screen tearing, the game is captivating and holds my attention well. The cutscenes are great and I love it when it seems that Senua is speaking directly to you; overall, it's a very immersive experience.

Yeah, dodge to the left or right when they swing, then immediately hit the melee button to knock their shield back and start swinging. Pretty simple once you learn this technique. :)
