Enjoy!

GENERAL RULES: (**please also see Game Specific Rules above**)

As we have done in December's past, this year we will be holding another competition to determine the best Wii gunfighter on RF Generation.  This year, we will play three games, only one title each for 9 days.  At the end, there will be a 4 day Battle Royale in which participants can improve their scores (*see more details about this Battle Royale below).  Everyone will be required to post a photo of their best scores. You can post as many scores as you need to, if you better your score, but to avoid confusion, do not post lower scores than the highest one you already have posted for each game.  Scores will be accepted each period starting at midnight server time (not necessarily your time) for the beginning date listed for each game, and likewise, scores will be accepted until midnight server time for the end date of each game. Any scores submitted even within a fraction of a second past this end time WILL NOT be counted, so plan your playing and posting of scores accordingly. The participant with the highest point total for each game per week will earn 10 points, second place earns 9 points, and so on down to 5 points (everyone who participates each week will earn at least 5 points).

This process will continue for three 9 day periods listed above, and the last 4 days of the month will consist of a Battle Royale where participants will have the opportunity to improve their overall standing for each game played during the month. At the end of the month, each participant's score will be totaled and the participant with the highest score will be deemed RF Generation's Ultimate Sharpshooter and receive the ultimate prize.

*NO SCORES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR GAMES PLAYED OUT OF TURN UNTIL THE BATTLE ROYALE BEGINS ON 12/25. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN ONLY SUBMIT ATTACK OF THE MOVIES 3D SCORES DURING THE FIRST 9 DAY PERIOD, GHOST SQUAD SCORES DURING THE SECOND 9 DAY PERIOD, AND SO ON. SCORES ACCUMULATED DURING THESE THREE 9 DAY PERIODS WILL GO TOWARD YOUR FINAL TOTAL, BUT OF COURSE, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORES DURING THE 4 DAYS OF THE BATTLE ROYALE. DURING THE BATTLE ROYAL, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORES, WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE TO HAVE PLAYED THE GAMES ALREADY IN THE PREVIOUS WEEKS. NO "NEW" PARTICIPANTS SCORES WILL BE ALLOWED, ONLY IMPROVED SCORES FROM PRIOR WEEK PARTICIPANTS.

IN THE SPIRIT OF KEEPING THE CONTEST FAIR, WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE PLAY ALL GAMES ON THEIR NORMAL SETTING OR WHATEVER SETTING THE GAME STARTS UP WITH, AND THAT YOU DO NOT USE ANY CODES, ENHANCEMENT DEVICES, OR RAPID FIRE CONTROLLERS/DONGLES. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT DEVICES OR OTHER AIDS YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING DURING THIS COMPETITION, PLEASE POST TO THE FORUM OR SEND US A PM AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION FOR YOU. THANKS.

PLEASE ABIDE BY THE HONOR SYSTEM WHEN POSTING SCORES. ALSO, DO NOT USE SAVE POINTS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE IF YOU ARE PLAYING ONE OF THE MODERN CONSOLE VERSIONS OR ON ANY CONSOLE WITH A SAVE FEATURE. COMPETITION HERE IS ENJOYABLE AND WE HAVE A VERY TRUSTWORTHY COMMUNITY, SO LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES, DO NOT POST THEM ON THE THREAD, SEND ONE OF THE HOSTS A DIRECT PM. THANK YOU.

**Contest rules subject to change or be added to prior to December 1st. If you have any suggestions for rules or restrictions, please contact singlebanana via PM. Photos of high scores are required and fun pics of you playing with a friend(s) are highly encouraged. Further questions concerning these rules should be directed to singlebanana or GrayGhost81.**

PRIZES:

A really sweet a%* prize (TBD) to display on your shelf, mantle, gameroom, or kitchen table will be awarded to the month's top marksman. The winner will also receive the title of: 2019 RFGen Ultimate Sharpshooter added to his/her forum avatar.

An easy $5 grab FRO.  If anyone is looking for any of these games, let me know.  I can usually find them pretty easily locally.

Throwing the gauntlet down now, though it's a rather limp throw. Best of the night for me on Attack of the Movies 3-D, on Normal difficulty.

Where is the high score board? On the game after you finish a level?

I just snapped a pic of the score when I ran out of lives. Not sure if there's a board to look at otherwise.

Yeah, I just beat the game and no high score board... well this was my best score anyway.

I'll get these scores up in the initial post as soon as I can.  Work is kicking my arse and I have to register all of my benefits today.  I love you guys, but I love having insurance more. :P

How on earth did you beat it, douglie007? There's a checkpoint I'm stuck on, and the blue ants that shoot the green globs are just too plentiful, and I can't pick those off fast enough, even if I try and shoot where they spawn.

Also, question for you, singlebanana: what do you think about 1up milking? At the checkpoint I'm stuck on, there's an extra life shortly thereafter, and I keep getting it, then keep dying later, but since I can't progress, I'm just racking up a score. Do you want to set a limit to how many times that can be taken advantage of, or is it fair game? I'm in the 1st area, and my current game is over 160K points with just me pounding away at this checkpoint, trying to progress, but still getting the extra life each time.

EDIT:
Okay, I managed to finally get through it, shortly after posting. As you can see by the stats screen, it took a lot of lives, and that meant I ended up milking that checkpoint a bunch, unintentionally, to get this result.

You can shoot the projectiles, and the first stage is the worst.

I'm hoping to be able to still get back in on this, but the last month has been just a mess. Ghost Squad is one of my favorite games on the Wii. My wife and I LOVED it in the arcade and played quite a bit of it at home as well.

I didn't even realize that Ghost Squad was in the arcade, that's awesome. Will have to look that up.

Title: Re: December 2019 Playthrough - Wii Light Gun Competition
Post by: MetalFRO on December 15, 2019, 05:50:59 PM
I might have to tap out on this competition. My Wii U won't play either my Ghost Squad disc, or my HotD 2&3R disc. It recognizes them, and loads the initial launch screen, but goes right back to the Wii menu. If I can pull my Wii out in time, I might try to throw a score in there, but if not, I might be stuck with one game score :(

EDIT: Turns out, my Wii was out of the box, just not plugged in anywhere yet. I got it hooked up, and Ghost Squad fired right up. I might need to buy a laser cleaning disc for my Wii U. In any event, I managed to get an okay score on Mission 1, though I haven't finished it yet. But this is my first attempt.

Question: While playing Ghost Squad, were you guys using continues?  I certainly was and just played until I finished the game.  If not, I think we should just go with this and use continues, play all 3 scenarios, and come up with our highest scores. There are branching paths, so it can be fun to see which paths produce the highest scores. You also get more points for headshots and quick take outs, so this should keep things interesting.  I know that the time for this game has expired, but remember, we still have the Rumble at the end of the month.  ;D

Scores updated!  There is a change in the leaderboard, but overall scores are super tight. Should be an interesting finish to the month with the Battle Royal!

That's good to know, and I'll definitely be trying this in the Battle Royale later. I was just getting as far as I could on a single credit. Same with AOTM3D.

Sorry about that Josh. It's my fault. I  should have played these ahead of time to help with the rules.... yes, continues on both games are fine. Aof3DM has a limited number of continues so see how far you can get.

Looks like only the three of us are competing, so if you guys want to extend the Battle Royal to let's say 5 days, we could do that if all of us vote to do so. Just an idea.

Scoring is rough on hod3 If you dont finish the game, you dont get on the leaderboard, so I got in a habit of taking shots when I finish a level with 2 or less continues left

I totally missed my window for getting a HotD3 score submitted. Not sure I'll have an opportunity to improve upon my Ghost Squad score, but it's definitely a game I had fun with, and want to go back to. Attack of the Movies 3-D has some good ideas, and is fun in spots, but I'm not sure it's one I'll spend a lot of time with.
