From what I've heard, the tunnel would be suspended because it can't very well go under the Atlantic Ridge... plate tectonics and all. That site was created as an April Fool's joke. Hydrobond was telling me about the real project concept - apparently Popular Science did an article about it, though I have yet to read it.

Wow, $8.90 for waiters? When I was one it was $2.13 an hour. I know the exchange rate isn't exact from our dollars to yours but even so thats a pretty big difference. Under 16 years of age $5.87 At 16 years of age $7.55 At 17 years of age $9.22 At 18 years of age $10.90 At 19 years of age $13.17 At 20(+) years of age $15.59. Year 1 of apprenticeship $10.22 Year 2 of apprenticeship $12.08 Year 3 of apprenticeship $14.87 Year 4 of apprenticeship $17.65.
