Title: Hungover.
Post by: thx1138 on July 07, 2004, 02:11:33 AM
aaaghhhh - I feel so hungover.

Was drinking stronger beer than usual, Stella Artois, lots of it.

Oh well, at least I dont have to work today, maybe I can organise my games collection or something.

Ahhh, hangovers are the worst.  The day after a 6-pack of Molson Triple X I usually get a bad one myself.

If you eat a lot of bread/pretzles when you drink, your chances or a hangover a reduced by a lot.

There is always chaser too.  http://www.americasnutrition.com/chashanel.html

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I want some of those!

I wonder if they will ship to the U.K?

I could always try eBay though.

Best way to get rid of a hangover is either power nap for an hour or 2 during the day, or drink more :P

The bast way to prevent a hangover is like hydro said. Basically dont drink on an empty stomach. It gets you drunk faster and your almost garunteed a hangover.
I am not a drinker.

Drinking a bunch of water helps too, but when your on a bender the last thing you are thinking of is the next morning.  |D

how about the equally loathsome Molson Brador?

that's one of the advantages to not drinking, you don't get hungover.

Title: Re: Hungover.

Another is you save lots of money and you get to make fun of people when their drunk thats always funny.

Hmmm, I've never had Brador.  Whats the proof on that?

Molson is garbage.  The only reason it's made in Canada is for OTHER countries to drink it.  It's like our Budweiser.

Now Sleeman - that's the shiznit.  It's not as widely available as Molson, but it's my favourite beer.  Rickard's is good too, but once you taste some Sleeman Honey Brown....  so good!

Hangover removal?  Drink Gatorade and drink LOTS of water before you go to bed (providing you're sober enough at that point).  The water will prevent dehydration and Gatorade will restore your blood's electrolytes.  Bye bye headache and dry mouth.  Or you could just drink LOTS of Gatorade.  Best keep some Gravol on hand for the nausea, though.

I like Molson, mainly because it's stronger than most beer in the States.  For my money my favorite Canadian beer is Moosehead.

I mostly drink ale, I don't think many Americans like ale.

To you it would probably be warm and flat. It's served well above freezing but well below room temperature, and is not fizzy.

btw - in the film Boyz in da Hood, what was it they were all drinking?

Was it "olde English" as mentioned by LL Cool J in at least one of his songs?

Is that cider?

Title: Re: Hungover.
Post by: Sauza12 on July 12, 2004, 02:11:25 PM
They were drinking Malt liquor.  It is basically beer (lager) with a more malty flavor to it and a higher alcohol content, and I do believe that it was Old English (or Old E).  Malt Liqour is usually verrrry cheap.

And yeah, your right about most Americans not liking ale.  We drink it, but it usually has to be ice cold like a lager.

You want real beer stay far away from the US most of what the general public drinks is less than like 8% ABV you want some real shit go to Europe their not pansy's over there

Title: Re: Hungover.
Post by: thx1138 on July 13, 2004, 12:04:37 PM
5 to 6% is what I generally drink.

Altough I do like Tennets Super which is 9%.

I'm really not American bashing here, but your mainstream beers suck.
Budwieser, Coors, Miller - I don't like it. Could be becuase you have rice as an ingredient?

Anyway, us Brits are complict cos it's brewed here under licence. And I have had some imported brewed in the USA beer which was very nice.

Original Czeck Budweiser is nice. :)

Mind you, I don't mind a drop of Jack Daniels whiskey.

feel free to bash American beer. they do suck. most notably the major labels, Budweiser, Miller, Coors, Michelob.

It's all about marketing and not taste. the thought is that a bland generic taste is going to appeal to a wider audience. It must be true because all those labels are hugely popular and all taste about the same. It's for getting drunk and nothing else, certainly not flavor. How else would you explain Light beer? It's virtually unpalatable yet sells like nobody's business.

I don't drink often but when I do I enjoy a nice craft beer or import. something with some flavor and variety. I prefer the darker beers too, porters and stouts.

no Bud Light for me thank you.

For all of you out there looking for a decent import (from Germany), look into Lowenbrau.   It is the best beer I have ever had, and it isn't too hard on the wallet either, like most imports.

that was a joke. I was referencing fictional pics that relate to THX's original "I'm hungover" post. perhaps my attempts at humor are too obscure.
