Title: political compass Post by: Zimbacca on December 14, 2005, 10:50:38 PM This is pretty entertaining. You take the test and it gives you where you stand on their political compass. I'm practically a Communist/Anarchist (Although I already knew that).

Title: Re: political compass Post by: SFS on December 15, 2005, 12:59:55 PM That was a horrible quiz. half the time I wasn't sure if they were trying to find out if I was racist, or a bad parent. The second half was worded in ways that make you sway your answer. The third half of the quiz was obviously based on stereotypes, which I felt are inaccurate and out of date.

Many of those questions i could have easily gone one way or the other on. Title: Re: political compass Post by: Peart on December 15, 2005, 04:35:11 PM So far I'm the most "right" of the bunch, though that doesn't suprise me since I'm an "old guy" lol.

Any online quiz like this has the same set of flaws. The whole idea of a computer calculating your beliefs is flawed, no matter how good the survey questions are. Something like this really needs to be done one on one with a person that is trained to ask the right questions in the right way. For instance, the first questions asks: "If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations." To me, the answer depends entirely on my position at the time. If I'm working for the trans-national corporation then of course I'll support their interests. It means more bank for me. But if I'm outside the corporation and stand to lose something I would, of course, not support them. Otherwise, I just don't care either way. It has no effect on me. Thinking about that question almost gave me an aneurysm, so I quit the test. |
