That's so true I hate watching Soccer.

The only thing I like about Soccer is being a goalie and the sort or primeval culture that comes along with the sport. It's like a taste of feudal Europe or something.

I hate goalie, you get blamed for everything as a goalie.  Team mates seem to forget that the guy will the ball made it through 9 other defenders before getting the shot off.

Playing soccer >> Watching soccer.

Check out this video. The guy kicks it, it goes right into his face, and then  into the goal..... Lucky!

And I cant watch Soccer on TV. I imagine it is better in person.

It's better in person if you're surrounded by hundreds of thousands of these guys (and gals).

The World Cup is a lot like Canadians and their hockey; when someone scores a goal, it's like the crowd has one, big, collective orgasm.  I bet it's awesome.

And those Aussies LOVE their sport, don't they?  Soccer, curling, swimming, POKER... day-um.

All of these pictures look like they are all watching rugby not footy. The one at the JJB and the one with the lasses on definatley are.

Anyway I see the US got hammered today off the Czechs 3-0. Reyna played well for you in the middle and Beasley did OK other than that they didn't seem to offer much.

Also, don't know if any of you guys know, bu where's Freddy Adu. I thought he was supposed to be the next big thing but I don't even think he was on the bench.

Anyway good look in your next match against Italy  :'(. We're playing Trinidad on Thursday and better put up a better show than we did against Paraguay at the weekend.

Just listening to Spain piss on the Ukraine at the moment.

No the US still have two more games if they don't get a result from their next game, which is against Italy, they'll be out.

By the way Italy were quality the other night against Ghana, so it isn't looking too good for your boys.

England managed another win last night against Trinidad and Tobago.
2-0 Crouch and Gerrard. Still not playing very well but we are confirmed through to the next round.

That save that was made by the player who was not the goalie was amazing. At least I think it was in the England game.

And another glorious victory for the Dutch team! Woo! Now we have to face the brilliant Argentines. I'd be very surprised if we'd win that, but I don't think it's impossible.

The US vs. Italy match was bullshit! That first red card against the US was just a fucking make up call for the red against Italy. ::)

What a joke

I thought the US were brilliant against Italy last night, when they went down to nine men I thought they were going to bottle it and get hammered but they stuck with it and really should have won because the offside decision for Beasleys goal was a dodgy one. Anyway good luck in the next match against Ghana, win that one and the Czechs lose to Italy and your through to the next round.

Not quite the thrilling match I was expecting. Any way looks like it could be Holland vs England in the quarter finals as long as we can win Ecuador and you can win Portugal.  ;)

Figo was a cheating bastard and I'm sure FIFA will pull him up for his headbutt. Oh well looks like it's England Vs Portugal in the quarters now.
England have been crap in every game so far, but we've still managed to get to the quarters, so I think lucks with us this year. :D

GO ENGLAND! I really hope you win from Portugal...those ugly cheating southern Europese snitches!:) By the way, just heard Figo is serving death penalty when people manage to take him as a hostage! There is a price on his head in Holland so the hunt is on!

Anyway from all players from England I like Frank Lampard best! He is a real good overall player!

Just a shame he hasn't been doing anything during this world cup. He's been going a lot of hiding and a prefer Gerrard over him at the moment.

Post by: TRAY on June 26, 2006, 04:49:59 AM
Maybe he is a bit tired from this whole year...could be off course...ruff season in the Premier League.

Also Shearer and Owen are cool players!

To be honest I am not down with Rooney and that Crouch guy...they are not my type of player! Rooney looks like a spoiled bret and Crouch is typical someone from Camebridge...those long legs and that slim body and his face, just like someone from university!

Title: Re: World Cup 2006
Post by: AndyC on June 26, 2006, 05:53:08 AM
Shearer has just retired from playing at the end of last season, Owens a good player when he's fit but he gets injured so often its frightening, I wouldn't be surprised if he has to retire before he's 30.

Title: Re: World Cup 2006
Post by: Arrrhalomynn on June 26, 2006, 10:30:50 AM
It was a mess, from both sides. I don't know what Tray has been drinking, but the Netherlands were as unfair as the Portuguese. The first thing Bouhlarouz did was purposely kick the shit out of their best player.

That Netherlands / Portugal Game was wild, so many cards, so many cards. A true pity that Portugal won. Here's hoping England beats the crap out of Portugal.

Beating the crap out of Christiano Ronaldo is approved! The guy doesnt belong on the footballfield, he better sits his ass down behind a mirror facing himself the whole day! ;)

Also Ivanov the refferee is offered a job in one of the bigger casino's in downtown Berlin!

OK I dont know anything about socce but what is big deal about this? I watched it I have seen these on ESPN and what is the big deal? Ronaldo can get someone kicked out of a game? The English guy stepped/kicked the other guy in the balls!

Title: Re: World Cup 2006
Post by: AndyC on July 06, 2006, 01:43:54 PM
The English like the game to played without any acting or "ungentlemanly" conduct, basically meaning if you're gonna cheat do it like Rooney did, jump on someones balls, or two foot someone from behind or start a 22 man brawl. Don't roll around like you've been shot, don't deliberatly get other players booked or sent off and swagger around like your king of the world (eg Ronaldo).

Title: Re: World Cup 2006
Post by: Tynstar on July 06, 2006, 02:54:07 PM
I can agree with "The English like the game to played without any acting or "ungentlemanly" conduct" I hate when people dive in hockey of flop in Basketball.

But what did Ronaldo do? He argued with the ref. Every one does that in sports.

Title: Re: World Cup 2006
Post by: AndyC on July 06, 2006, 04:45:31 PM
He told the ref to send Rooney off, Ronaldo and Rooney are team mates at Man United and are kind of looked upon as the bright starlets in the Premier League. People are pissed that he argued with the ref to get Rooney sent off but after he had done he gave the subs bench a wink and finished the rest of the game with an arogant swagger.

He is well known for diving though and has been doing it for the past two years in the Prem so we all know what he's like. I think the rest of the world do now too after his Oscar winning performances for diving during the Holland and France matches.

Basically I now think the whole of Europe hate him at the moment, and I'd be amazed if he is back at Man United next season and if he is he's going to get that much shit I don't think he'll last long.

Shootouts suck.

@Captain, I agree. And it's unfortunate. At least hockey has a specific penalty now to discourage it, though. Many other sports will follow.
