Title: The Fantasy Football 2006 thread.
Post by: phoenix1967 on July 07, 2006, 09:59:34 AM
Well, the start of Fantasy Football season is here! I picked up my favorite annual magazine (Fantasy Football Index) yesterday and am looking forward to the start of the season.

Since I'm in 2 keeper leagues, running backs are at a premium (as usual), and it brings me to the FFL question that's been on my mind lately. If you were in a keeper league and had a choice between LenDale White or Jay Cutler, who would you choose as the best player available?

keeper leagues are for geeks.

btw, we do an RFG fantasy football league. I'll be getting that set up shortly.

Definatley Lendale White.  There isn't too much difference between QB's on a points per game basis, so Cutler is expendable.  RB's are much more valuable.

Are we going to limit the amount of people joining the league to a certain number? 10, 12, 20?

not for a while yet. since it's auto draft we can wait till the last minute. that way we can make sure everyone is signed and we can avoid getting stuck with guys who get hurt in the pre-season.

Bump*

We need more people! I honestly would like 8-10.  I think we are sitting at 5 right now.

Title: Re: The Fantasy Football 2006 thread.
Post by: captain_nintendo on August 17, 2006, 11:46:04 AM
Sitting at 6! Which is good becuase you need to have an even number to start.

Anybody else edit their pre-draft rankings? I did a little research and did mine. Of course I will be watching for injuries in the pre season as well.

Talk to Eddie

I thought he said he was interested, so long as it was three.

I'm surprised its so hard to get more people to join, did we not have a bunch of people for Baseball? I know I didn't join that one this year. Where are those people for this bonanza?

Should I make a super sneaky announcement about the league on every forum?  :ninja:

we have 12 teams! has everyone set their pre-draft rankings? I will set the league draft status to "ready" tomorrow. once I do the league will draft within 72 hours.

so go set those pre-draft rankings. I know you all want T.O. with your first pick!

So pretty much i went thru and picked up the best "prospective" players.

Anyones gotta be better than some guy who got 3 points all last season as a wide reciever or was it running back...
Either way.

Glad i got Cinci again for defense :)

Willing to trade any of the following or a combination of for a solid running back.

B. Leftwich  (qb)

R. Wayne  (wr)

Da. Clark (te)

A. Bryant  (wr)

B. Edwards  (wr)

would also consider trading "T. Glenn  (wr)" if the deal was right.

So, if there is a proposed trade, does the league have to vote on whether or not to approve the trade? I'm assuming that's what "league votes" means in the settings. That blows if that's the case.

If the league must vote and you did get a winning vote. You could set up a time for you and the person you want to trade with to both be on Fantasy Football at the same time, then drop the players you are trading making them free agents. The person you are trading with will then pick up those players and drop his players for the trade ;)

what "league vote" means is that after a trade has been agreed upon by the 2 parties it is forwarded to the remainder of the league for review. If at least 4 teams object to the trade it is vetoed. this just keeps unfair or lopsided trades from happening. if someone tries to trade Peyton Manning for Joey Harrington the rest of the teams can stop that deal.

well let's hope no one stoops to that level. there is a "can't cut" list that will stop some of that anyway. late in the season the teams who aren't going to make the playoffs can't just release all their star players making them free agents for playoff teams to load up on.

Who to start? Peyton Manning or Philip Rivers. Many may say Manning, but I think Rivers is going to have a NICE day.
I just don't know. ???

Wasn't Ben out for a few games? That would mess with his numbers.  Still though, he doesn't seem to be on his game as much as last year.  Sadly, the same is true for Palmer.

I agree Roethlisberger will get better. I was just giving you a hard time because your team name is Death to Steelers and you picked up the starting QB for the Steelers. And yes, Eli Manning is your money maker

I don't think it's lopsided. I'm trading 3 of my players that have a total of 412 fan points
for 3 of his players that have a total of 346 fan points.

But the reciever you're giving up is on a team that lost it's main quarterback and running back.

You're giving up that reciever and a crap QB for the best tight end in the NFL this year and one of the best recievers in the NFL.

Again, it's lopsided.

The receiver I was giving up has 61 years and a TD at half time right now, and his team is wining 13 - 0 at the half

The pending trade in our Fantasy Football is my 2nd and final attempt to get a better TE. If it gets vetoed by the league then I guess it was never meant to be, no hard feelings here. I don't think this is a lopsided or an unfair trade, but if anyone else dose just vote against it.

Trading Crumpler is like if I traded Tony Gonzalez....They're TEs that don't get traded and for good reason.  They're the best in the league.

The only players that are worth Crumpler on your team are: Manning, Westbrook, and Walker.  Maybe Muhammed, but that's it.

The only reason I don't think these trades should go through is because "The Fluffy Warriors" doesn't care, and it's crap.

Here's my point:

If you want to get a better tight end (one of the best in the league), you sure as hell better offer someone WAY better than your BACKUP quarterback.

c'mon guys. let's quit with the attempts at shady trades. some of us are playing to win but not by raping teams that don't give a shit of their talent.

and encouraging the trade offers is crap. they will be vetoed.

Point taken. I will not try to trade again. This is my first time playing fantasy football I was looking at the points these players have made. That is how I was looking at the trades. Kitna has made 133 fan points and I thought it would be fair to trade for someone who has made 73 fan points, Crumpler. Sorry. Veto the trade and lets get on with the season  :)

Again I'm sorry that everyone is seeing this as a shady trade. I don't think it is because I'm looking at the fan points. I'm sorry to anyone that I have upset. So like I said above, veto the trade and lets get on with the season  :)

Yes some close games will be decided my Monday night's game. My game was close. I only won by 2 points.

It is a good thing my trade attempt to pick up a better tight end(Crumpler) was vetoed. He only got 3 points this week. My starting tight end(Heath Miller) got me 9 points. So thank you, to everyone who voted against my trade proposal without you I would have lost my game this week. :P
