Title: Your first Post
Post by: TraderJake on December 17, 2007, 12:09:29 AM
So, in an effort to reminisce, I have created this wonderful thread on first posts. What was yours? Boring or not, let us know. Perhaps we'll ridicule it. Perhaps we'll love it. But one thing is certain, it should be a fun time.

I ask that you do make a post in this manner:

Topic Name <-Linked would be nice (Post Date)

Post Content

I'll start this off:

Coasters this Summer (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=167) (6/28/04)

I am planning on going to Cedar Point and possibly Geauga Lake for some Cedar Fair fun. Got to get my yearly dose of Top Thrill Dragster in. I also plan on going to PKI five to six days a week because I love the park so much... but then you would too if they paid your bills.

Great thread idea.

Good anime? (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=3287.msg55232#msg55232) (August 05, 2006, 02:53:04 AM)

Good anime? There's no such thing. It's a complete oxymoron. DOES NOT COMPUTE!!!

Go watch some Perfect Hair Forever, Tom Goes To The Mayor, and 12 Oz Mouse instead.

Seriously, those are good shows.

Oh, and good anime: how about Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Akira, Lupin the 3rd, Trigun, Super Milk Chan, Crest Of The Stars, Excel Saga, and Full Metal Panic.

OH DEAR GOD WHY DID I SAY EXCEL SAGA AND FULL METAL PANIC?! PAST ME IS A MORON!

I am offended. I love DBZ and Inuyasha. :P

Edit: I see what you did there. Good anime after saying there is no such thing

Well my first was a link to a website that doesn't exist anymore, so here's the second.

Re: It's L Day! (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=59.msg533#msg533) (6/13/04)

Wow, you definatley have too much time on your hands :P

Which was in response to a picture hydro posted that isn't there anymore :(  Pretty boring first post, I know.

Well my first overall post was this:

Horray, boards are back.  Good job Mike!!!

Title: Re: Your first Post
Post by: TraderJake on December 17, 2007, 12:46:27 AM
See that's slightly less boring.

Bender: No! Not the magnets! [His eyes widen.] (singing) Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home. [The witnesses applaud.] Swing low, sweet...

Fry: This is horrible.

Farnsworth: But it's not boring!

I think I deleted my original first post.  I tend to delete redundant posts.  Good thing I'm not a moderator!

^Your first post was in submit missing games here. I remember that thread. Thank god for the submissions system.

Why? Easier to leave them.

Actually, we delete posts in the submit missing games thread. Well we used to, until we decommissioned forever the thread. Thanks submission system!

I was mainly asking about the deleting redundant posts part. Why would you do that?

Introduce yourself please (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=2931.msg38278#msg38278) - February 16, 2006

hey there my name's Keith and after all this time of using the fine resources of RF i've decided to join because it's rude to stop by and not say hi :P i was quite young when i started playing and find myself just as comfortable playing my xbox as i am intellivision, my only problem is choosing what to play, there just aren't enough hours in a day. :)

Nothing fancy there. I didn't post for 2 months after that until I submitted 19 games into the submit game thread. :)

superfluous posts (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=4326.msg69977#msg69977) are discouraged in The Beaten thread, for starts.  My own posts that I deleted were price requests in Buy/Sell threads where the items were no longer for sale.

My first several posts are quite nonsensical. I was fairly new to this whole internets thing. Anyways, first post was:

I am Evan Leon.

My first post:

Hello my name is Ed and I'm from Indiana.  I've been around on other forums like AA and Mystery Manor for awhile.  New to this forum but loving every minute.  My favorite system probably would have to be the SNES.  I'm a big fan of rpgs and shooters and you cannot ask for a better system for em.

Is it not good manners to introduce yourself first before you raid the fridge and sit on someone else's couch? :P

How close are you to a complete collection? June 08, 2004, 06:56:29 AM

the 2 I'm closest to completing are not impressive at all. the Pico and Game.com. they both suck and the libraries are small.

On a more impressive scale I'm within 100 for a complete Dreamcast collection and I need less than 40 to complete the Intellivision library.

wow! over 3 years later and I still have not completed the Pico or game.com.

Damn Den, you better get that finished.

Title: Re: Your first Post
Post by: den68 on December 17, 2007, 04:46:59 PM
yeah. at the time I needed 2 Pico games. I got one of them a few weeks ago. hell, I don't think I've found any Intellivision games since then either. I know I've added about 20 Dreamcast games though.

Well, if it is any consolation you still have about 500 more games than the next highest collector on RFG.

You might be a game collector if ....... (http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=2937.msg56825#msg56825) (8/20/06)
"...you have so many games, you no longer have room to play them."

If only I knew then what I know now.  That was about 1,000 games ago ;D

My first post is embarrassing.

lalalala, first thread! *does the happy dance*

I can't imagine it was the first thread on the forum, so it probably was the first thread in the staff forum.

About a 100 posts are missing though. I guess they were in one of the several silly forums only Nep and I could visit, or the filthy forum Antimind made.

we didn't really need a filthy forum. it's better to spread the filth around.

Gaming / Video Game Generation / Re: ten-year lifecycles on: July 05, 2004, 01:36:14 AM

i dont think that the consoles will go in 10 year intervals because it is far to long a time for the progression of technology. i think 5 years  would be a sufficient amount of time to get together enough new technology to improve graphics, hd size, loading times, etc. also in 10 years time if a home systems would barely be able to hold up against pc's at all

In the subsequent 48 hours i had 79+ more posts.
The 3rd one was in the intro thread.

Stopped at Pawn America after work yesterday and picked up a loost Shining Force cart for like $6. It's the second one I have found at this PA (the first one was boxed with no manual, but in really poor condition).

I gotta say, I have been out of the collecting loop for about a year, but there's something about a nice find that makes you want to get out there and see what you can find. Consider me back in the game.

My first post. It came about 3 years after I had originally signed up on the site. No idea what took me so long, but it doesn't really matter now. I've really enjoyed my time here so far, and look forward to more forum-posting goodness!

Ahhh, those first heady days of RFG.  Wow, did I really only have 700 games at that point?  It seems like I've been over 1000 forever.

I can still remember my first post in the RFG universe back on the old Video Game Bible site.  I think it was bragging about buying a Jaguar and 7 or 8 games on Ebay for like $60.  Shit, that must have been 5 years ago at least.

Ahh, I had forgotten my debut on RFG before reading though this thread.

I emailed RFG some game additions, and was thanked for them and asked if I could add them to the submission thread. So I signed up, then my posts for a long time after were all submissions until I could finally put my whole Saturn collection on here. So my 1st non submission post was (as far back as the forum will let me see anyway as I don't think it would be my 1st)

This is indeed a most excellent addition to RF Generation!
Especially for those who go out of their way for a rare limited edition version of a system as their crowning piece of their collection.
