Title: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: NES_Rules on February 12, 2012, 04:30:16 PM
Same rules as the last time. Give hints after 24 hours of no/incorrect guesses and you have 24 hours to post the next screenshot if you get it right.

We'll start where we left off:

Hint: Its a British TV show.

Is that from Prison Break?

No

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: incominggame on February 20, 2012, 08:33:28 PM
Hint : Like bickman2k noticed, the actor seen on the second screen also played on Prison Break. This actor plays the main character on this tv show.

Another screenshot : The white rectangle in the corner is not important. It was to remove the channel logo.

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: incominggame on February 22, 2012, 08:22:47 PM
Hints :

- The show aired from 2002 to 2003

- "I woke up in an island off the coast of Seattle. I didn't know how I got there ... or who I was. But I did seem to know everything else. There were things about me I didn't understand ... the brand, being colorblind, extreme claustrophobia. And while my gifts provided answers for others, I still search for my own."

Question about the rules : If no one finds the TV show, do I keep giving hints or I give the answer and post another screenshot for another TV show?

Only a link, what am I doing wrong?
You need the location of the image, ending in .jpg (or similar type). Photo sharing sites usually give it to you but I can't find it on Flickr.

I did find this on their FAQ though:
Quote from: Flickr
Where is the HTML code and photo file link?

The HTML code to embed a photo in a web page that you used to find on the All Sizes page is now only in the Share menu above the photo, to the right of the Actions menu. We now also include BBCode! (standard message board code)

There are a few cases where the code may not be available: 1) If the photo is restricted. 2) If that person has turned off "Share this" or access to original files.

The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.

I have no idea what the show is, but it looks like a cheaper generic version of Stargate.

That took a little detective work, they character looked really familiar but I couldn't place him. Luckily, Fox Family wasn't around very long so it didn't take too long of reading show titles before remembering that one.

Not Chico and the Man. Good guess, though.

This one came afterwards.

Another hint: One of the main actresses in the show was on a lot of 70's and 80's game shows. She was frequently on Match Game (blonde...SMOKING hot!).

It's not a Horror TV show, though you wouldn't know this one unless you watched it more than likely.
Think of a movie/show that dealt with immortals and a sword.

I assumed Horror because of the guess for Friday the 13th. I didn't think it could be an adventure series. I loved the first movie, but have never seen the series or any of the sequels.

I will jump in with an easy one to help revive the thread.

You should be watching it, its easily the very best show to ever come out. It is so much better than the Walking Dead.

I don't know the new one, but is that guy Richard Alpert from Lost?

Yes it is. I hadn't seen Lost, so I had to look him up, but that is the very same actor.

My wife would disagree that Z Nation would be better than The Walking Dead, although she watches both. I, on the other hand, have not experienced either.

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game

Live-action

All I have learned so far is that Patrick Warburton is returning as the Tick, and that it is part of an experiment from Amazon. They will run a new "Pilot" and if the fans want more, they will sign up for more episodes depending on demand, like Netflix did for Arrested Development.

Ben Edlund confirms it will be more dark and edgy than his first attempt and is looking for Nestor Carbonell to come back as Batmanuel...and if he can make that a reality...who knows what will happen?

Not sure what's up with that image not rendering correctly, but I'm pretty sure shaggy is correct. Someone can always post a new picture - it's been 24 hours.

Shouldn't be to hard considering that's a known actor in one of his early roles.

Eeyup, Mike has it.

That's Jason Issacs playing the immortal villain of the week in an early episode.

No worries lol.

The answer is Better off Ted. Great show but was cancelled after two seasons.

Alright, I think this one will be easy. I will even give a hint, this isn't the #1 star of the show, but he is the second most important character. I guess Black and White is a hint of its era too.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how popular this topic was thats why I didn't yet. Now that I know I will show a picture of the main star too.

See. Thats why I didn't initially show the main character. You see now why I didn't? ;P

You fell into my trap. Because its not MASH. And yes, its too bad they are gone but they will be remembered with love for giving us joy on the TV.

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: Schlibby on February 23, 2017, 05:14:36 AM
I was gonna say. If that's MASH then who's the woman, don't remember her being in it. And would be a bit of a B tier characters picture for the other 3 (maybe not Sherman so much)

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: RobotWillie on February 23, 2017, 05:37:47 AM
I will come clean. It is the same characters. But it isn't a show called M*A*S*H (as its properly stylized with three asterisks between each letter). But it isn't a guest appearance either. Those are the 4 main stars, or one of the 4 could be said to be the 5th main in a debate, but the pic is only missing one of the top 5 stars.

Is it called After MASH?

Title: Re: TV Screenshot Identifying game
Post by: RobotWillie on February 23, 2017, 05:58:39 PM
YEP! lol

I watched the first episode on youtube recently. It was TV Guide's 7th worst show of all time on a 2002 list, and one of Time's 100 worst ideas. They don't even care its on youtube, they know barely anyone would buy it on a Blu Ray or DVD release. But it still lasted for 30 aired episodes in 2 seasons.

That is Klingers wife from Korea he meets and marries in the last episode of MASH.

Ah,.... Bakersfield PD. I actually have heard of this show before. I remember seeing a commercial for it on a youtube video of a show from around then that had the commercials in it still from when the person taped it. I looked up Bakersfield PD when I saw it. Bakersfield is known as a very countryish city/town compared to the rest of California. It has a Southern vibe and a backroads feel to it from what I hear, and the show makes light of this, the black cop/detective in the commercial gets fed up with the country music that seems to be all they air on the radio, and I guess thats the premise, a city guy trying to get used to a countryish place. In fact Bakersfield was the hometown of two of countries greatest artist and pioneers, Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. Then again, Korn is from there too, lol. Even though its not an extremely small town, in fact its about the same size as my hometown here in Washington, Spokane, but mine is the second largest in my state, Bakersfield is 9th, so its a good size but LA and the Bay laugh at it.

The damn thing isn't listed in his filmography on wiki, but its in his bio. Thats where I was getting lost.

:) Your geography and culture lesson are done for today.

Hint time: Its star is a much widely praised comedian and is considered one of the groundbreaking comedians of their trade. He wasn't in that many other sitcoms, he was more known for being on talk shows and for his comedy specials.

He is a personal fav of mine too.

No. He is a more not politically correct comedian. He was also pretty much the only famous person on the show, none of his co stars were really famous and many of them stopped acting shortly after it ended. It only lasted two seasons as well I think.
