I just found out about this device recently, and since they were fairly cheap on eBay, I decided to pick one up. It's an add-on for the Famicom that used special cartridges, similar to the Aladdin Deck Enhancer, except with a built-in barcode reader.

It's a neat little device, even if the games are pretty awful.

None of the Datach games for this are currently listed in the database. I'd add them myself (there are only 7), but I think this should be added as it's own system, as it's kind of in the same boat as the Aladdin and the SuFami Turbo (Also a Bandai creation). The Datach unit itself is currently listed as a Famicom accessory.

The entire list of games made for this, all of them made by Bandai:

  • Dragon Ball Z: Gekito Tenkaichi Budokai (1993) (This was the pack-in game)
  • Ultraman Club: Spokon Fight!! (1993)
  • SD Gundam: Gundam Wars (1993)
  • Crayon Shin-Chan: Ora to Poi Poi (1993) (Note that there is also a normal Famicom release of this game. It doesn't use the barcode reader)
  • Yu Yu Hakusho: Bakuto Ankoku Bujutsue (1993)
  • Battle Rush: Build-Up Robot Tournament (1993)
  • J-League: Super Top Players (1994)

We'll add the new console after the site move.

See, this is why I make these notes - I knew I'd forget, and this had been nagging at me recently. Yeah, we can get that added.

EDIT: Added and moved the console here:
