Sweet hockey game layout.  I'm jealous of the alternate covers.

Ooh, interesting story about the covers, turns out they both made it into circulation pretty much everywhere:

Picking a cover athlete for NHL 2004 proved to be problematic. Joe Thornton was the original choice but after he was brought up on assault charges, he was removed and replaced by Dany Heatley for the game's first shipments. After Heatley's car crash that killed his Atlanta Thrashers team-mate, Dan Snyder, EA removed him and replaced the cover with Joe Sakic but not before a large number of units had already been shipped. As a result, both covers (Heatley and Sakic) made it into circulation.

Greetings from Terra...

It's been a pretty dry week. Not much in the way of games, but I did pick up some interesting peripherals.

Games:

- Sealed Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns for Wii, $7.99

- CIB Loco Roco 2 for PSP, $5.99

Hardware:

- Intec Blaster light gun for XBox, $5.99

- Konami Guitar Freaks controller for PS1, $3.99: yet another Japanese import for my stack. Though I doubt I'll ever get to really try it out...

- CIB Epic Mickey 2 paint brush and clicker nunchuk controllers for Wii / Wii U, $4.99 each: Some Target overstock I found at the Goodwill near work. I'm wondering if the lowest clearance price Target put on these things before they dumped 'em was higher than what Goodwill was asking...

Misc:

- Three back ishes of GameInformer and one of Official XBox Magazine, $0.29 each

- Super Mario 64 maze-thingy, $0.99: Although I rarely buy any video game-related tie-in merch, I found this odd enough and cheap enough to warrant picking it up. I think this might have been a Mickey D's Happy Meal toy...

Hopefully, the next week will prove more fruitful.

Until then...

Shadow- I always forget about Europe

Crabby- Yes, I got those too, just wanted to give hockey its own post

Fleach- Yup, good old #31.  Joseph was great but I have a soft spot for Belfour even if he was past his prime when he joined the Leafs.

Cool, just wanted to make sure they didn't get lost in the box Smiley

So here is round #1 of the Play n Trade buyout sorting.  There was a lot of searching one box for game and another for case/cover, and then the sticker removals and sometimes case replacements.  Yes, there are many fillers and possible resells but this is everything the owner had left.  Subtracting what I spent on the display pieces and game stations, I paid about $75 for all the remaining stock - 214 games and counting.

Pictured are my keepers, but my FS/FT is being updated as I sort, including quite a few case/cover/manuals that need homes.  And I'll trade most away for very little.

Notables:  Street Fighter EX3, Time Crisis 3.

Notables: SVC Chaos (loose).

Notables: King of Fighters '99, Soul Calibur(loose), Power Stone Collection for PSP (loose).

Notables: Aliens Colonial Marines (loose).  Borderlands was actually a trade from a local collector for Wrestling stuff.

Maniac Mansion was from CDWorld, but the price was great for there - $7.

So that's it so far.  Quite a few accessories, loose discs, and Nintendo handheld games left to sort.  And cables & power supplies.  Oh so many cables & power supplies.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (CiB) - PS2
Sly 2: Band of Thieves (CiB) - PS2
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (CiB) - PS2
...

Nice finds, I like the Sly games, but somehow I can't find Sly 3 complete with 3D glasses...

My scores, from last week:

- Mega Drive II with 7 games and a Saturn Backup Memory
- PSP with 43 games (2 Platinum games not pictured)

Techie, you should see about sending a lot of those FS/FT items to Crabby to help him stock up his store. Wink

@Techie: That Gottlieb Pinball Hall of Fame game is good, you should try it.

@Bildstar: That is a great PSP lot. I really like that FFII art much better than the US version.

Agree, but also be sure to pick up the Williams collection as well.

sadly i have to retract my Sculptor's Cut small score, it doesn't work Sad. highwind had tested it and it was working before he sent it, but for some reason when i tried it here it wouldn't start up at all. it kept fading between black and a fuzzy red screen, i tried every cleaning method i had and it didn't seem to be the contacts. i did notice on opening it that there was a stain on the board, so that might have something to do with it. the stain cleaned off without much effort but who knows what damage was done by whatever caused it. there was also a suspicious looking part where a couple of the wire traces looked damaged. so that sucks.

sorted it out with highwind though, he's a good guy and i don't hold it against him, especially since it worked when he tried it. oh well, i'll find another copy someday.

That's too bad, it was such an awesome score. I was excited for you. Hopefully you'll find a replacement.

i tried polish and rubbing alcohol, the contacts look perfectly fine to me now but it still displays exactly the same as before i cleaned it. it must be either something to do with whatever caused that stain on the board, or the suspicious looking wire traces.
