I think that the chance of escape goes up the higher the level you reach and after you get razz berries. As you probably know, more high level Pokémon start to appear the higher level you reach. The chance of even capturing the more common Pokemon gets lower. The save balls, use razz berries and make sure you wait for the ring to shrink down before you throw. I try to catch any Pokemon to help raise experience and even evolve them as often as I can to level.

WHOOPS! Seen that a few times on FB, but the beauty of this game is you will eventually get another one, probably even more powerful.

I come across eevee quite often. I've leveled up since then so the next one should be more powerful.

I still only tried a gym battle once so it doesn't matter much.

I'm about to be level 17, caught 58. Not bad considering I've been cooped up in the house for a couple of weeks with a newborn

To my knowledge, only one person in North America has "caught them all" so far. Which means that this person finished the NA common Pokedex.  However, there are a few that are region specific (North America, Europe, Asia, Australia) and several rares that are nearly impossible to find

Well then, you'd better get back to it. They're not gonna catch themselves, you know.

BTW after a little pondering, I realized a VERY big upside to this Pokeymans phenomenon: it's one of the biggest mass-distractions in recent memory. And the more distracted everyone else is, the better chance I have of grabbing all sorts of cool non-Pokeymans stuff before they do! So go forth and keep it up, you Pokeymans-catching Pokeymans-catchers!

 I'll be watching...
