That's 2.5 hours southwest of me, forget that... At least she has tolerable broadband.

yeah it was shitty, i just got the job and worked 14 out of 16 days and when i went the boss told me they did not need me anymore. i was like you should've called me since you now my car was in the shop and had to ride my bikecycle to work which was about 9 miles from my house, so it was 9 miles up and 9 miles straight back. i was pretty pissed.

So, is anyone other than Jay seeing an ad at the top of this site? It's not supposed to be there if it is.

I'm thinking of lapping my CPU to cool it down. But if I mess up I would have to spend £100 on a new CPU and I would have to use the crummy old laptop until the new CPU came. I'd get withdrawal symptoms if I'm away from this computer for more than a day. Undecided Huh Apparently Core 2 Duo heat spreaders (The metal bit on top, can't remember what it's called) are often uneven, which means they don't contact the heat sink so well.

I've got my Core 2 Duo E6300 1866Mhz up to 2.5Ghz but it's around 45-50*C at idle.

PS. Yes, Cap'n, I'm talking about my PC again. Tongue

If your PC is giving you trouble and it has a floppy drive i have a solution.

Carefully open a floppy disc. Get some matches with white heads, scrape heads inside floppy disc.
Insert disc into floppy dirve.

Enjoy retribution.

Just use arctic silver, I would not recommend doing anything to the processor itself.  If you want to sand something, sand the heatsink not the proessor.

So i just finished making 2 nearly identicle PCs on dell.com (different system models)

The one with a Intel® Celeron D® Processor 347 (3.06, 533 FSB) costs 70$s more that the one with the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+

$1,241 vs. $1,171
The cheaper one is actually their more expensive base model.

System specs:

OPERATING SYSTEM   Genuine Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium
MONITOR   No Monitor
MEMORY   2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
HARD DRIVE   500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cacheâ„¢
OPTICAL DRIVE   16x DVD+/-RW Drive
VIDEO CARD   256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
SOUND   Integrated Sound Blaster®Audigyâ„¢ HD Software Edition
TV TUNER AND REMOTE   ATI Theater 650 PRO Combo Analog/Digital TV Tuner with Remote Control
KEYBOARD & MOUSE   MX 3200 Laser Cordless Keyboard and Mouse
FLOPPY & MEDIA READER   13 in 1 Media Card Reader
MODEM   56K PCI Data Fax Modem

My Accessories
SPEAKERS   Dell WL6000 5.8GHz Wireless Rear 5.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer

I kinda want a new PC but i really don't want Vista so i guess when i do get one i am not going thru Dell
