Starting in October, as many as 2,500 Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve will begin receiving involuntary activation orders to report for a year of duty!


I'm in the Individual Ready Reserve until September 2008! When you sign up for active duty it is an eight year contract. I did five years in and almost one year out now. I hope they don't call my ass back. Angry

"The Marine Corps will soon begin ordering thousands of its troops back to active duty because of a shortage of volunteers for Iraq and Afghanistan — the first involuntary recall since the early days of the war.

Up to 2,500 Marines will be brought back at a time, and there is no cap on the total number who may be forced back into service as the military helps fight the war on terror. The call-ups will begin in the next several months."

"The deployments can last up to two years, but on average would be 12 to 18 months"

Do you really think this war is going to escalate to include Iran? I sure hope not, it would be sad if the world ended the way Nevil Shute Predicted many years ago. But, should it esclate to include Iran I hope it is not only the US going into the country.
