Midway/Acclaim/Westwood Studios

I can't think of any other that i care(d) about at the moment.

The number of studios that have gone down in the past year is over 30...

Another one bites the dust! In the future everything will be produced by 1 company?!

I think the THQ bundle is only about $24 on the Steam sale.  Think I'll buy into that.

Oh yeah, sucks about THQ.

I expect 10 years from now only the three console manufacturers to remain, together with maybe a dozen or so of the biggest publishers. They'll probably each own a ton of studios developing for them. If graphics fidelty continues to rise, expect the cost to develop a triple A title to rise even further.

On the other hand, there seems quite a growing indie scene developing lots of interesting/niche games. At the same time I think we'll see a growing number of "cheap" or even free game engines, like unity, that'll allow those indie developers to start creating a game immediately instead of wasting time writing their own tools.

Guys they are not going away as it's chapter 11. They have a backer so THQ will still be making games. MGM and Marvel have done the same before. They are still around.

I look forward to Darksiders III

Well, THQ is going to officially cease to exist and its properties are going to be spread out throughout the industry with other publishers now.

This is a sad, sad day.
