Watched the first part of the animated Dark Knight Returns...SO GOOD

Watched part two of this...brought tears to my eyes in a few places. It's weird. The comic made such an impression on me as a youngin, and this version totally does it justice. To see the pages brought to life so faithfully and ardently was just amazing.

And yes, I guess I am turning into an emotional vagina in my old age.

Which part did you like better?  I loved both, but I think Part 1 was slightly better.

Arguably that's how the story goes, and the comic is the same. After the Joker goes down the whole story arc gets kind of bizarre and politicky.

I wouldn't say either part was better than the other since they were made by the same crew and are part of the same story.

I do think the tunnel of love scene was the most powerful bit for me, and the Superman showdown is awesome. I may have to go with part 2 if I had to choose.

Watched the Inbetweeners movie last night with the GF. It was pretty good, a bit shlocky in that it had such a hunky dory ending compared to anything that ever happened on the show, but that's comedic cinema for you.

Charlie Brooker's 2012 Wipe.

Methinks the guy might be losing his satirically pessimistic touch; this one wasn't quite as funny as 2011 Wipe. Still, it had its moments.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/b54u3f3GoSo&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/b54u3f3GoSo&rel=0</a>

Probably the segment of greatest interest is when Brooker talks about the Summer Olympics and how its presentation was very video game-like to him.

Some of the movies I've seen the last couple of weeks...

Charade - (1963) - B-
--> Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in a fairly average movie about mixed identities.

Stalag 17 - (1953) - B+
--> Movie about American POW's in a Germany. Quite an enjoyable movie.

Cashback - (2004) - B
--> Interesting movie about a guy who can freeze time, but still move around himself while the rest of the world is frozen.

Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life - (2010) - B
--> Biographical movie about French singer Serge Gainsbourg. While the movie is serious throughout, there's a comic/puppet version of Serge that accompanies him and talks to him. But others can't (always) see it.

Tropic Thunder - (2008) - B-
--> Already saw this one before. Cheesy, but it has its moments. Especially Robert Downey Jr.'s character is funny.

I've started watching Mad Men the last few weeks, and so far, I thought it was kind of "meh". Until the last episode I saw where this happened:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/iEh7xyRAteY&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/iEh7xyRAteY&rel=0</a>
The show just got a lot better IMO.

Just caught a replay of the big finish-lap crash at the Daytona 500.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/5iCWBLVF7x0&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/5iCWBLVF7x0&rel=0</a>

It was FREAKIN'-A AWESOME!  freakboy

I made like "Nature Boy" Ric Flair when I saw it:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/2lzZ5xzVWS0&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/2lzZ5xzVWS0&rel=0</a>

Cars gettin' totalled left & right, one of 'em flipping into the air and disintegrating, a couple of 'em shootin' flames out... now, THAT's racin', baby!

If they had more than a few of those in each race-- like, say, a dozen or so each-- I'd never miss one on TV!

'Cuz I sure as hell don't wanna be there in person when the shrapnel comes flyin' into the stands.

Otherwise, who cares about a buncha high-performance billboards going around in circles at 200 MPH for a couple hours? BO-O-O-O-O-ORING!  sleeping

No, I wanna freakin' demolition derby of Biblical proportions, baby!  drool

Um... the Bible did had demolition derbies in it, right? And if it didn't, it totally should have.

I gotta dig up footage of this bad boy from other angles, BRB

...Final Destination got up to four movies?!

Knock me over with a feather.

BTW I just recalled some commentary on auto racing by a most distinguished gentleman:

Before you do that, ya gotta take a look at this bad boy: a Top 10 Indy Crashes video with the perfect tune to accompany the footage.

Wouldn't you rather watch the original Sledge Hammer?

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/LUt6LpajX5Y&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/LUt6LpajX5Y&rel=0</a>

Then again, it is a bit before your time...

God, do I feel old now.

BTW I just saw some behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming RoboCop remake. And I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover and all that...

...but...

...after seeing how the new RoboCop looks, I'm pretty sure it's gonna suck balls. He just looks lame.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/_-LMwog2mVk&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/_-LMwog2mVk&rel=0</a>

Come on, black with red trim? Is this RoboCop, or a humanoid version of KITT from Knight RiderAngry

And what's with the right hand being an actual flesh hand, huh? ME NO THINK SO!  yuck

I'm totally nerd-raging over this travesty...  grrr
