In Japan, Koei recently published Sangokushi VIII (Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII) for PSP, except players popping the game into their PSPs have been surprised with Sangokushi VII instead.  In traditional Japanese manner, Koei has responded with a formal apology, as well as pulling all current copies from store shelves and delaying the upcoming Limited Editions.  The publisher is still working on a replacement plan.

Is it just me or is this the worst nightmare of the QC department at any game studio?  I suppose the disc content could be worse.  (Madden 06 porn disc)  It is extremely rare to see companies ship out faulty media.  Good thing this isn't happening in the US.  Remember how PC gamers raged at GameStop last year for removing that slip of paper from Deus Ex?

What are your thoughts, RFGenners?

That really, really sucks for Koei.  But it is really, really awesome for collectors (or at least an interesting point).

I think it is a Freudian slip.  The whole plan all along was to simply add another "I" to the title so people would buy it, and if wasn't for that idiot Hashimoto (whose sole job was to make that change) people would never had known the truth.  Well, until they actually do release the game (hopefully Fujikawa will perform better than his predecessor...).
