Welcome the November edition of RF Generation's Site News!  In this issue, we announce December's playthrough games and annual site competition, lock down the dates and rules for another great, site-wide Secret Santa, and thank those who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals during the month of October.

REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line.  Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!

DECEMBER 2016 PLAYTHROUGH ANNOUNCEMENT

The holiday season is upon us again and there's nothing quite as special as spending time with friends and family. In order to make your season warm and bright, the RF Generation Playcast is once again hosting its annual December competition in hopes of recapturing those holiday couch co-op fuzzies and bringing us all together for some light-hearted fun.  In the past, we've played through the Streets of Rage series, piloted our crafts in a month on shooty-shoot shmups, and gotten locked and loaded in a series of challenging Run n' Guns titles.  This year, we're sticking to tradition and bringing you a different type of competition that will once again take us across different platforms to compete in some classic titles.

Nearly two years ago on our Community Playthrough Suggestion Thread for November 14, 2014, site member JerryGreenwood posted, "What about a competition month with a racing game? F-Zero, Super Mario Kart, R.C. Pro-Am, etc."  Well Jerry, it looks like that after a "short" wait, you're going to get your wish.  Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

In December, the RF Generation Playcast will host a racing competition whose games have been handpicked by each of our three members.  Each game will feature special scoring based on timed and other game specific events.  These scores will be tallied in the same monthly competition manner that we have used in the past to determine the overall winner (*more details to come on the sign up thread located HERE).  So, without further adieu, here is the list of games:

Week 1 - singlebanana hosts - F-ZERO (SNES)
Week 2 - Fleach hosts - ROAD RASH II (Genesis)
Week 3 - GrayGhost81 hosts - BURNOUT REVENGE (PS2/Xbox)
Week 4 - BATTLE ROYALE (*improve your standing for any game)

Similar to past competitions, there will be a supa sweet prize for the winner, which our own singlebanana has been secretly crafting in his workshop.  If you have seen the prizes in the past, you certainly will not want to miss what's in store for the winner this time around!  Once the prize is finished, a photo of it will be displayed on the playthrough thread.

We hope that you are as excited about these racing picks as we are!  Please join us by signing up on our Discussion Thread located HERE

2016 RF GENERATION SECRET SANTA

Have you been naughty or nice this year?  Either way, it's that time again, Secret Santa time!  Come on over to the Secret Santa 2016 thread located HERE and join the fun.  During our Secret Santa event, RFGen members buy video games for each other, ship them to their Secret Santa, and post pictures of their new goodies on our forum.  Ahh, Christmas!

The cut off for joining this year's Secret Santa is Friday, November 18th, so be sure to check in on our thread to get involved and send your personalized list to Santa.  Soon after the cut off date, Santa will sent you an idea list for your recipient so that you can do AT LEAST $20 worth of shopping and get your goodies in the mail. Participation is NOT limited to U.S. residents and all members are encouraged to participate.  Also, any members willing to ship internationally can choose to do so and are very much appreciated! Due to past scams, our only limitation is that you must either (1) be an established RFGen member OR (2) an established member must vouch for you. If you are unsure if you are an established member, shoot a PM to wildbil52.  Sign up today!

Yeah, FatherJack is back!

Welcome to our newest staff member, "fleabitten". Smiley

I used to have that Mr. T / B.A. Baracus action figure back in the day! IIRC it came with a little tool box, bolt-cutters, several other tools I can't remember, and an M16 rifle. He also had a squishy head, like the original MOTU toys.

And while FatherJack lives, apparently he's on life support, 'cuz he's not even close to topping the October submission leaderboard. Is the ol' padre running out of things to submit?

Aaaand finally, a little self-promotion: the 2016 NOT-So-Secret Santa will begin on Wednesday, November 16th at 5 AM US Pacific coast time. Ten items are up for grabs! And, like always, it's first come first served! Hope to see you there!

Wish I would have thought about that Zag. Please remind me next year as I'm happy to include your annual event on the front page. Smiley

Great job on compiling the news Rich.  Super excited for Burnout Revenge.  Burnout 3 was what got me into the series and Burnout Revenge was the game I was most excited for when I first got my 360.  Gonna be a great game to revisit.

It's nice to see Burnout Revenge get some love. It seems from what I usually hear is that Burnout 3 is the popular favorite but I've always preferred Revenge. I may play a bit of both to see if my opinion still holds.

The secret Santa sounds fun too but I genuinely don't know what I would ask for lol. Is there ever anyone who participates and just says "surprise me"?

@zophar53: Oh yeah. You should definitely participate. It's always a lot of fun and members are pretty creative with gifts.
