Title: Pets thread!
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on January 13, 2005, 04:06:02 PM
I'm super excited.  It's been almost exactly a year since my last dog died, just before his fourteenth birthday and after three years of living with cancer.  He was a Golden Retriever.  That's not the exciting part, obviously.  What is exciting is that we went to a local animal shelter looking for a dog and found a six month old Golden Retriever puppy.  She was found as a stray so unfortunately we don't know an exact birthdate.  Anyhow, my original dog was named Louie, after the duck from Duck Tales (I was like seven at the time).  So, we're naming this new dog Daisy, after the Donald's girlfriend.  She'll probably also be nicknamed Floyd (Floyd Collins, the caver.  Anyone know of him?), but my sister isn't going to allow that as her official name, since the dog is female.

Here's a picture of her from the shelter's site.  We get to pick her up Monday after she's fixed, so I'll upload a better picture then.  If I can find any of my first dog, I'll post some of him too.

So who else has pictures of their pets?  Care to share?

That's no puppy! cute dog though. Let me look for a good picture of our dog.

Our Dog is called Sogno, a 4 year old Bernese Mountain dog. Incredibly sweet and, like all dogs, rather stupid. She's very easily scared and especially other dogs freak her out. Even puppies.

2 years ago in the winter:

Me shaking the dog's paw

Picture of the dog in my room. She's not allowed to go upstaris, where my room is, and if she does it, she won't dare to go down anymore.

She really loves bread. Every evening after walking she gets some bread and she's horribly excited about it and eats it like she's about to die of hunger.

I use to have a dog.  Her name was Blacket; she was a mix of a Black lab and a collie (I think).  It was cool because her body was shaped like a black lab, but she had pretty long hair.  If I find a picture of her I'll post it.  She got hit by a car something like 9 years ago and ever since then I've only had cats.

This is Duncan Aleksandar, my cat. He'll be 9 on April 4th and he has no tail. Long story short, he went mad and chewed it up to the point where it had to be amputated. He's a lot like a dog in the respect that he follows me everywhere and tries to eat human food every chance he gets. He knows how to open pizza boxes and loves the stuff. He understands when I speak to him in English and Croatian, and his nickname is Danki. That's my boy!

My cat is called Felix (how original).  Had him since he was about 6 months old, now he's around 11 or 12.  Totally a cat with character, though he's spoiled to the high hills by my parents.  About the only things I've trained him to do is come over when I click my fingers and get him to respond when I say hello on entering a room :P

I like the Girrafes and Rhinos.
So when are you going to cut off the Rhinos horn?

Right now i don't have a pet of my own. Have had a few cats(not at the same time) before. I have been spending alot of time around my aunts dog and 2 cats and like them though but no pics sorry. But they are nice looking animals.

Title: Re: Pets thread!
Post by: Tynstar on January 17, 2005, 06:50:55 PM
That horn was in the process of growing back. Needed to be cute down so she would not impale any thing/one.

Post by: Izret101 on January 17, 2005, 06:58:46 PM
You know those are sold on the black market right.... but that is for another time and place.

If i get a pet of my own it is going to be another cat probably because they are easier to take care of. But that is awhile off yet.

Yes I do. You can cut off the horn without killing the Rhino.

damn you must need a back hoe to clean up the yard after the rhino and giraffe. or are they litter trained?

I wonder if it hurts to get your horn cut off? *apply bad sex joke here* Actually I do wonder.

If you are talking about a Rhino horn then no it does not hurt. The horn is just made of hair.

so the rhino has this done by a barber then?

Does anyone else have a cat that only wants into the room that has its door closed or is that just mine?

Title: Re: Pets thread!
Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on January 18, 2005, 05:48:36 PM
Mine wants to be everywhere all the time unless it's in a tree.

Title: Re: Pets thread!
Post by: Antimind on January 18, 2005, 09:15:33 PM
My cat wants to be whereever I am and he follows me around the house. We're usually in my room or game room with the door closed. When I'm in the bathroom he'll sit facing the door till he hears the toilet flush, then he stands up and waits for me to open the door. Soon as I do he walks right in front of me back to my room or game room. When I'm not home he usually lays at the top of the steps looking at the door till I come back.

Post by: sinning.dragon on January 19, 2005, 08:30:47 AM
^_^! My dog, Noel, will sit outside the bathroom or computer room or wherever I am and wait for me to come out and talk to her.

I don't let her in the rooms with me though (or my other dog Hunny) because they fart all the time and it's fucking sick.

I think it was probably aired in the early to mid 90's.  I think it was part of the Disney Afternoon, and maybe on Saturday mornings too.  It wasn't that great and didn't last long at all.  I think it was out alongside another bad Disney series: Bonkers.

I remember it too, I think it originally aired on Saturday Mornings, but eventually it found itself on weekend afternoons on Star 64 (What was Cincinnati's UPN). Never really watched it, but I did watch Bonker's periodically, that was the show with the crazy Police Cat. Tale Spin was the better of the weekday Disney Shows.

So much for trained dogs...my parents dropped by and decided to leave one of our dogs here to be with me and my brothers for a while, and within the first two days he (Percival aka Percy; English Pointer) decided to first jump on a stack of recently acquired NES accessories damaging lots of boxes (including the beeshu gizmo, noooooooooo!!!).....you would think that I would've learned from that terrible event, but I didn't do anything about it for around a day....so less than 24 hrs later Percy got locked into my room while I was gone and took a nice long piss on one of my cases with trade/sale stuff (all drenched...disgusting, luckily mostly non-NES stuff, but still, mostly ruined)...and slightly on my brand new NES Satellite that had just come in (didn't penetrate the box, but the box is half yellow now :()!!!  I got so used to not having a dog around that it got the best of me...

oh well, shit happens...

:o :o :o

That really sucks!  I always keep the door to my room closed so that our cats don't get in there and jump on things they're not supposed to, not only for the safety of the games, but for my cats' safety too.  The little spastic one would end up tangled up in cords or fried somehow...

They play all teh time. I have three sogs and for the most part they are fine. Every once and awhile Loki and Bart fight like teenage boys do.

Loki          is 3 years 6 months
Bartleby   is 3 years old 1 month
Ramzi      is 1 year  4 months

We got Loki at 6 weeks old, Bartleby at 8 weeks old and Ramzi at 9 weeks old.

Make sure to check  the end of page 2 I posted a total of 13 pics.

Those pics are great. He had a nice chunk of skin between his teeth. lol. I didn't know dogs would drink from water hoses & play in sprinklers. I will test my dog soon to see how he does. I know he hates to go outside when it's raining, so he may just dislike water in general.....other than what's in his bowl. |D

Loki hated water until I kept dragging himinto a pool. Then I couldn't keep him out. He would bolt for the pool and jump in.

Bart never did like the pool but in the last few months started drinking from the hose and playing the the sprinklers.

Last week Ramzi started to play with the sprinklers and now she LOVES them.

Awesome pic! He has got a little gut on him, that is so funny. Does he try to bite/scratch? How long is he? I used to have pet iguanas & they all had their own personality.

Nope, he doesnt bite or scratch...he is very used to get picked up or being touched...
He bit me couple of times, even last week, when there was something a little bit stuck in his mouth, and I had to keep his jaws open...
But his bites are more like a little grip.

Yesterday night he was sleeping on my belly...looks kinda funny cause he sleeps very well and is hard to wake up...

This is my first dog, Buttons. This picture was taken before I was born. All I remember of her is an old lump of fur.

Her puppies:

Fern, on the right, is my second dog. She will be ten years old this summer. We got Holly, on the left, in October 2004 when she was 8-10 weeks old. Fern is turning into the old lump Buttons was, which is quite sad. Holly looks a bit daft because her ears are pricked up and her lips are caught on her teeth. They're both very clever dogs, although Fern is a little disobedient these days. I taught Holly to jump on command in only twenty minutes.

I think it's interesting how Springer Spaniels all have a white stripe between their eyes going down to a white muzzle.

I heard her shell can get half the size of a basketball. It really depends on her diet & her living space. She is in a really big terrarium and I'm sure we will have to figure out some other means of shelter for her down the road.

There are too many stray cats around & we don't have a fenced in area. Plus living here in Washington, it gets cold an awful lot. Maybe if I lived where you are or even in Texas.

When she gets bigger would cats mess with her? Could she live outside part of the year?

I think they still will. She doesn't hide in her shell often. She doesn't know danger & I know she wouldn't last very long. My wife & I talked about getting a kids pool and filling it with dirt & plants and watching her outside. I do take her outside to walk in the grass, but I keep a constant eye for predators.

I have a few pets. Two dogs, a lopped ear rabbit, and a beta fish (the thing won't die; it's like 4 years old now).

This is my pride and joy. I would seriously sell off everything I own to keep her. I bought her when she was 5 weeks old. She's going on 3 years now. This is my full blooded basset hound - Cleopatra:

This here is Franky. He's a full blooded corgie. We got him about 4 months ago when we moved so the Cleo would have someone to play with out in the yard. He's a pretty sweet dog. He's like 5 years old and VERY protective:

And this here is Oscar - the lopped ear rabbit. He's our indoor pet. We leave his cage open so he can come and go anytime he wants. He's VERY VERY tame. He will hop into the living room and jump on the couch and sit with you. He often sleeps behind the entertainment center or under the bed. This pic is of him under the bed (notice the poop pellets in front of him :P). He's about 6 years old:

I'm actually not sure how old Rupert is. My friend Katie actually stole him from her neighbors as they left him outside in the middle of winter with no food, water and only a cardboard box to sleep in.

As for those kittens: OMG. I just keep staring. I can't contain myself, seriously. I am wiggling all over the place because I just want to go cuddle all of them. ><;;

I just took my dog (nicknamed Percy for Percival; he's an English pointer) for a routine walk a couple hours ago, when another dog attacked him.  It's happened before that there's a level of aggression between my dog and other male dogs, but that's just because my dog is a really dominant male (he's not aggressive to humans at all).  Anyway, I managed to get a few kicks in on the other dog (and a bite in my hand in the meantime) before his owner got ahold of him, but my dog still suffered a deep cut in his throat so I had to take him to the vet.  It really sucked that I had my dog on a leash, because the other dog was roaming free and my dog could hardly defend himself.  Ahh well...at least the owner of the other dog was willing to pay for all of the vet costs (which didn't come cheap because Percy required stitches and had to be put into a temporary sleep).

We originally named him Klondike.  Since he is about twice the weight of Aibo, we just started calling him fatso.  It's not like names really matter with cats in the first place.
