The last independently-owned commercial radio station in a top-25 U.S. radio market... and the fanbase is indeed beyond cult status. They went off the air on May 13th. Originally they were going to continue their internet broadcast, but had to stop that due to lack of funds. Two rich listeners called in and offered to fund the station for now, and they are back online after two months of silence.
Right now, they have live DJ's from 9 am Eastern to 11 pm Eastern. Overnight, everything is pre-programmed for now. (This is a big change from what they had before, but I don't much care as long as they're back.) A couple of their old DJ's moved on to new jobs, and a couple stayed. Some of their old signature programs aren't back in full force yet, but they haven't even been back for 24 hours yet. I've been listening pretty much non-stop since the sign-on at 10 AM yesterday, and not ONE commercial has been played. This is what I call non-stop modern rock. Rawk and rowl. |
