Title: Weekly Poll 4/16/06
Post by: shaggy on April 16, 2006, 05:19:06 AM
Which console system do you like the most?

SNES is responsible for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and Final Fantasy III (VI). Need I say more?

But i went with SNES too.
BTW Cham you forgot to mention a few good games Super Metroid, Zelda:LttP, Donkey Kong Countries and countless other games.
These are just a few of the just heavy hitters ;)

I voted for the Genesis. Lot of good games and I think I have spent more time playing that system then any otehr system.

I chose the Atari 2600. The system is awesome & I enjoy many of the games. This was my first real console growing up, so I may be kinda biased.

Well there are just too many good systems.  I chose the mighty Dreamcast.  The NES had an awesome library and so did the Genesis but the Dreamcast had some ground breaking titles.

I picked the NES of course.  I have way too many memories from being a kid to choose otherwise.

i voted genesis, but the 2600, NES, and Dreamcast couldve also won my vote

the SNES was too derivative of the NES... though the 16 bit generation as a whole is easily the best.  the genesis and snes complimented each other better than any other major console war pair (or trio)

N64 - my first real console, and the only one that held my attention for days on end.

I'm Surprised no one caught onto Doki Doki Panic, which is clearly a NES game. (SMB 2 USA without Mario)

Just because they are based off of NES games does not mean that they can't be better. Just try to say that any NES RPG is better than Chrono Trigger, I dare you.

I am not a Sony fanboy! :'( ;)

PS1 and PS2 are way different for me.  We're not talking about hardware, we're talking about software, and I have a lot of good memories on PS1.  I'll just vote other... :-/ >:(

I voted for SNES.  Too many great titles, especially the RPGs...Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire 1 + 2, Robotrek, Zelda, Genghis Khan, etc, etc...

That it is not, the examples I pointed out are just my evidence as to the fact that a game can be based off an older game, yet still be better.

I could have said Super Metroid, the argument would not have changed. The same goes for RE4 vs. all other Resident Evils.

i dont think super metroid is that much better than the original.  SM had too much hand holding, with the auto map maker and the limited range of samus.  in the original, you could go pretty much anywhere in the game in the beginning (and be quickly killed, or course).  it was far more open ended.

In my opinion Super Metroid is the best out of the whole series.  I love that game!  Been awhile since I played it, though.  Maybe I should crack open the SNES now.... and maybe change my vote!

I agree with Shaggy.  Super Metroid far outclassed Metroid.

I think I even liked Zillion better than Metroid.

I voted for xbox because it was the one that brought me back to console gaming.

If I had to choose an older console, it would be Genesis because it was the last console I owned (1995) before buying an xbox and Sega was never afraid of 'political correctness' when it came to their games (i.e. Blood BELONGS in Mortal Kombat).

no love for the SMS?  :'(

SMS is one of the systems i have fewer games for, but so many games i love for it, ps1 would be a close second.

SMS ruled because of that snail game that was built into it.

Title: Re: Weekly Poll 4/16/06
Post by: Izret101 on April 20, 2006, 06:06:14 PM
It wasn't built into all SMS systems though.
Wasn't there an Alex Kidd game built into one SMS version?

Title: Re: Weekly Poll 4/16/06

you could still access the snail game in the SMSs with Hang-On/Safari Hunt built in, i dont think you could get to it on the SMS 2 though

How do you access the game? I never noticed it was built in. Is there some kind of code you have to do?

If you own an original model SMS without a built in game...
Turn on your SMS and wait for the instruction screen to appear.  With
controller 1, press up and hold buttons 1 and 2.

If you own an original model SMS with a built in game...
First, hold down the sequence given above.  While holding, turn the machine
on and wait.

I have 2 different Euro SMSs with Alex Kidd built into it.

But that's advertised as a feature, it's totally different than the hidden easter egg snail game!

I've played Chrono Trigger a ton, but Dragon Warrior IV is still my favorite RPG ever.
